Testing the market with a soft MVP

    IDEA
I have been working on creating a business that will revolve around creating and selling a detailed line of digital products that are educational in nature for a specific skill set that I have a lot of experience in. Further, my goal will be to produce various forms of these products that can...

Lack of quality for service 2022

    RANT
I think about this all the time. Is there a way to solve this problem on a larger scale and provide value? Maybe a customer service training company offering consulting, online classes, training for executives on how give incentives for top service, etc. Would business owners pay for that...

What's your real-life non-productivity porn morning routine that gets you crushing in business?

    HOT! MINDSET
I was thinking the same thing the other day...if I did all the stuff these books and videos and "gurus" say to do, half my day would be taken up by things that don't grow my business and don't seem productive to me. I have always thought that is the key though...figure out what works best for...

    1 Year In Business Anniversary

    EXECUTION
And just to be clear...for all of you who have been in business a year and do celebrate those milestones...good on you!! Seriously, it's not easy so I congratulate you. I'm just saying that's not a goal I originally set for myself so although I'm happy to have been in business for a year, I'm...

    1 Year In Business Anniversary

    EXECUTION
Oh I still have to get my hands dirty a good amount, especially while I'm still such a new business. But building a network of great subcontractors helps. And I need to hire a guy or two to perform some of the work we are doing in house. I need to be able to at least have the option to answer...

What's the value of a daily newsfeed topic modeling SaaS?

    IDEA
I definitely like this part of it, I think there is a market to provide unbiased news/information. I know personally I am sick of most media outlets putting their opinions and agendas on EVERYTHING. It's annoying and tiring. I don't know how to target the smart, free thinkers out there but if...

    1 Year In Business Anniversary

Thank you. Learned a lot, yes. Money...I did ok. I made good money at my slowlane job so once I get back up to that level consistently, I'll be a little more happy/comfortable with the money side of things. But I truly feel rich in family life, fitness and health. I have a lot more freedom...

    1 Year In Business Anniversary

    EXECUTION
First 6 months, wow...there was a lot. I probably don't even remember it all because it seemed like something every damn day...but: My business partner flaked. We took a big job that was 2.5 hours away from home for not enough money, that was a struggle as I was staying on the job all week...

My mind is exploding with Ideas, while my convenient slowlane job holding me back

    INTRO
I agree with @Andy Black , a good start is probably to use your skills and provide a service for someone else. It all starts from there. It seems overly simple but the best advice I can give you after starting my business a year ago is just start doing. Do something, do anything, just start...

    1 Year In Business Anniversary

    EXECUTION
Today marks one year since I started my general contracting business, and wow has it been a ride. I wouldn't say I thrived by any means, but I survived, and I guess that's something. It was a year in which I experienced a lot of failure, a lot of doubt, a rollercoaster of emotions, and in all...

Taking debt for business...good or bad move to scale?

    EXECUTION PEOPLE QUESTION
That company looks interesting, I'm definitely going to look more into it. Thanks for the tip! I'm definitely thinking a little debt and a hire or two is the next step. My next move is to make a list of what I want to get off my plate and make a job description for a VA/Admin and a PM. I'm...

Taking debt for business...good or bad move to scale?

    EXECUTION PEOPLE QUESTION
I have thought about that too. I like the selling part though and I'm good at it. I think I can sell and still put time into developing systems at this point. As I grow I will definitely get to a point where I need a sales guy, but I think my first hires are best spent with admin and good labor.

Taking debt for business...good or bad move to scale?

    EXECUTION PEOPLE QUESTION
It's not. Kinda learning that now I agree. This is my next move. Gives me more leverage, it's what I need to scale. I was fighting an HR system at first but I tried the soloprenuier route and it didn't work. Totally agree again! I'm trying to do it different. Trying some different...

Starting (and Fastlaning) a lawn care service business

    GOLD! HOT!
@Johnny boy spot on with this! If you have the bandwidth you will clean up with this strategy. I used to run sales for a large commercial snow company and I can't tell you how many people would call, even commercial customers, on the first snow storm who were unprepared and urgently looking...

Taking debt for business...good or bad move to scale?

    EXECUTION PEOPLE QUESTION
That's not what I meant by those problems. I'm very honest and transparent with my customers, I have no issues with scheduling expectations. What I was eluding to is that if I sell a job today, that starts a pre-construction process of lining up subs, ordering materials, permitting...
