I started working for money when I was 12, cleaning my grandmother's apartment and helping my dad repair cars. In my teens I was an electronics hobbyist, recording artist, and I did yard maintenance for rental properties. In college I worked as a electronic technician in a recording studio and music store. On the side I was recording music and creating a few electronic products.
Problem solving skills I learned in electronics were useful when I interned writing assembly language and writing BASIC programs for fun. When I moved to a new city at 21 there where no studio jobs, so I got my first professional programming job writing a modem driver, and then created ground-breaking linear regression analysis software for residential real estate appraisal.
In my mid-twenties I was able to mix my love of music and sound with my programming experience when creating digital audio editing and synthesizer editing software for the well-known (now defunct) Hybrid Arts. My last work for the company was running a ten-person hardware/software development team for digital audio workstations that were a favorite of "golden-ears" mix engineers in LA.
In 1991 I co-founded software services firm Art & Logic, doing consultative sales, server admin, visual design, software design, and programming. Art & Logic's speciality was software for electronic hardware. During this time I developed an Academy Award-winning (for Technical Achievement) film sound system for Soundelux. I also wrote audio and ethernet drivers for Mac, a motion animation system for Windows (used at Disneyland), and many other applications and low-level components.
In the early 2000's I launched the award-winning web services company Art + Logic Interactive and attempted to launch blogging startup Inknoise.
After parting ways with the A&L group I served as a virtual CTO to several start-up companies and continued to develop server, web, and desktop software for clients in securities trading, entertainment, print-on-demand, stored value, and loyalty marketing.
Between 2008 and 2022 I worked on black-box trading system partnerships with a few hedge funds and got back into writing and recording music with my music outfit Sister Brothers.
In 2015 I soft-launched conscious music company Frequencies Music, which was made dormant by the pandemic.
As of 2024 I continue to make new software and support existing software for a few clients in loyalty marketing and print-on-demand while testing business ideas outside of software services.
