Stuck between that rock and a hard place of the day job and what you want to do.

Solo. I have 2 close family members that help run it less than part time. Oh how I would love to get a part time job. I actually do look almost every other day for something. At least something that pays more to put less weight on my wife's shoulder's.

Stuck between that rock and a hard place of the day job and what you want to do.

I am sorry. This is mostly a rant. It is hard to convey thoughts with people that truly understand, and I am sure I am not the first nor the last who has been in a similar position that would like to share. The position: Your day job taking time away from the business you want to succeed but...

Science Fiction as Innovation: Holograms, Force Fields, etc.

It was done with the iPad. Remember TNG from the 80s how they had tablets? Took a few decades, but the tech was finally mature enough to come out with tablets better than the tablets on TNG. Flying to the moon use to be pure sci-fi until, hey, we finally did it. What we do today will for...

To loan or not to loan?

And that is exactly what I have been saying since the beginning. But the problem? My starting budget was a lot less than it should have been. I am unable to pour x amount of funds into inventory to have to wait for it to slowly pay itself back which is why my plan was always to sell at the...

To loan or not to loan?

Yes/No. One month I can make 1 sale which would cover all costs then not so much the next month then suddenly 3 sales the month after. Preparation costs are different for each car. I can get really lucky and have minimal prep one and have hidden costs on others. The credit line is approved...

To loan or not to loan?

I do not need to use the full 50k. I could actually get by using just 6-10k. It is a very small warehouse based used car dealership that can only hold 4-5 cars.

To loan or not to loan?

I have had a little over $100,000 in revenue my first year for my brick and mortar. The company usually pays for itself, but that is obviously not the point to having this adventure. When I had no other source of income, I had to pay myself to pay personal bills when I should have saved the...

Keep in mind that ads do not have to be full screen. There are plenty of simple games with a banner ad at the top or bottom. And if a game is addictive enough, then people will barely be bother with the ads. Look what happened to Flappy Bird. There was a point where ad impressions were...

I used to attend bi-weekly and monthly aspiring developer meetings in my town. Their #1 mantra was "Release something. ANYTHING!" Most studios and single-man operations start out small. They release small game after small game to have a library of games while also expanding their skill set...

And the more games you make, the more ideas you get for future games. :) HTML games kinda makes sense. Memory runs out on a mobile device, an elementary school computer, developing countries with limited bandwidth (I think I read most try to keep HTML5 games under 10MB), etc. And isn't HTML5...

Feel free to post your links to the game in the iOS and android stores. We will be more than happy to test out. :) And in regards to your #2 with making a more difficult game after the initial first easy one, always keep in mind to try to have a library of small games. It is tempting to get...

I feel the main reason MJ warns about doing what you love is due to people getting lost in what they do love and not paying attention to what the customer wants. A business is about providing a service or product to a consumer, and you have to be willing to change as the market changes. They...

I used to use VMware Player to run the Mac OS virtually. It is really best to have at least 24+GB of ram. You want to be able to run the Mac OS comfortably, so 8GB there. Then you have things like Unity, graphic editors, etc, and it all quickly eats up 16GB of ram. Good luck, srodrigo!
