Should I learn programming or pay someone?

    WEB/DIGITAL
You don't need to learn even "basic" programming for a site like the one you're describing because it doesn't seem all that intricate and all of the software that you need already exists. You need to research the software that you need to run a site like that and hire someone who can install and...

Why "lifestyle design" will make you miserable...

    MINDSET
I disagree with much of what you've said because 4hww showed me how to leverage outsourcing (odesk.com is awesome), but I just want to make a point of thanking you for pointing me to the e-myth. I never looked into it before and after finding the e-course online, it's on my reading list now...

Why "lifestyle design" will make you miserable...

    MINDSET
No, you're not alone. My idea is extremely close to that - my first goal is to provide internet marketing for other peoples businesses using my own company. Once that aspect of the business is organized/systemitized and profitable I'll begin developing/marketing my own products. So essentially...

Why "lifestyle design" will make you miserable...

    MINDSET
Actually, I don't think that's "just the way the cookie crumbles", I think that the financial value of what you love to do should be the key, deciding factor. If you love to do something that is lucrative, that's great - run with it. Otherwise MJ's philosophy should apply.

    How to find a partner?

    WEB/DIGITAL
There are tons of sites that you can use to find a JV/jointventure partner - Let me google that for you - but your best protection is to publicize the partnership with your partners social network. It's not quite escrow, but you might want to google "business insurance", too.

Personally I think there will be some form of a collapse and I've just started to prepare for it. I've got immediate financial concerns, but once they're taken care of I'm following a lot of the advice found on sovereignman.com and creating a "Lifeboat Strategy" - basically, I'm spreading the...

Why "lifestyle design" will make you miserable...

    MINDSET
Is Tim Feriss some kind of a scapegoat on this forum? Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think there's a bit of confusion and fanaticism (fan-boy-ism) here and I'm not sure, but I think it revolves around terminology, goal-setting, and exit strategies. If you read Tim Feriss's 4hww book you...

    Steve Jobs is DEAD!!

    OFF-TOPIC
I really admired that guy. Having said that, though, I have a Question: What killed Steve Jobs? Answer: Whatever it was, it sure wasn't a virus...

What skills would you develop in the meantime?

It was my first and only endeavor with selling my own informational products. I had positive results selling other peoples clickbank ebooks so I cranked out one of my own and also cranked out the wordpress based single page site myself, using open office to make the ebook and then converting it...

What skills would you develop in the meantime?

Good idea, just don't use paypal as a payment processor. I lost $10k 2 years ago due to chargebacks on an information product. Chargebacks exceeded my revenue, totally screwed me over. Google ways to minimize chargebacks. I think you will find a good thread on that issue on digital point. Sent...

What skills would you develop in the meantime?

Well, it's being done already in several niches but there's no reason you can't do it in your own niche. The questions are how do you do it and when. See Group Commerce for a white label solution, CarFisher, Make Dealers Compete, You Save! , and to wrap your mind around the mechanics of it, you...

What skills would you develop in the meantime?

You've got 4 years to educate yourself? Any idea what industry you want to go into? #1 I'd say make yourself a subject matter expert in that field. And I don't mean an academic expert... Learn who the fastlaners are in that industry and learn everything that they themselves have learned. Also...

Great bootstrapping thread - how to create money.

    HOT!
Craigslist is not the only venue where this would work and you should definitely build a contact list using craigslist. There are also software and services that allow for mass cross posting on multiple craigslist sites. My ex- used to do something similar on ebay with babies clothes and kids...

You have a point, of course it offers value to some people...but in my case I got more out of The Fastlane book. I should have specified that reading Buffets book is a waste of time if all you want to do is to learn business methods, since the gist of the book is summed up in the title...

I bought "The Snowball" used, think it was about $10 including shipping. It was still a waste. I think my next book will be Guy Kawasaki's "Art of the Start" and possible his newest book "Enchanted". I've got samples on my Kindle and will decide if they're worth buying after I've read the first...
