Keeping an on this as I've just launched a carpet cleaning and restoration business in Utah. Right now I'm interviewing 2 different digital marketing agencies that specialize in home services / restoration. I imagine most of the budget initially will go into Google PPC and LSA. They both offer...

Exiting the Slowlane by Buying a Business

    HOT! SLOWLANE EXECUTION
Business is officially open. We did our first revenue cleaning job this week and are now cranking up everything on the marketing / advertising front. I've never been a sales person, so learning this skillset is new. I've applied to join a local BNI group and we have leads coming in from Angi...

I met Heath Herring at a Jiu Jitsu tournament in the early 2000s in Amarillo. He had just fought Mirko Cro Cop in Pride a few months earlier and lost by TKO after taking a liver kick. We asked him what it felt like (Cro Cop's left kick was the most feared thing in MMA at the time) and he said it...

    Get Fired for Severance?

    SLOWLANE
I'd take a few days to really think it through; you don't want to make any big decisions like this when you're in an emotional state. That being said, if you do decide to leave, just give your required notice and go. Keep it professional and leave on good terms because you never know when...

The gi is great as you really have to have your technique on point in order to execute guard passes, sweeps, etc. Also as you noted, it adds some more techniques and submissions like sleeve chokes, etc.

Well I move slow but eventually I do move. Wound up sending 50 letters to various AC and plumbing businesses around SLC. Had a few people view my LinkedIn profile and that was it. As an alternative, I started looking at franchises (I know Fastlane people sell franchises, not buy them), and...

The SBA doesn't require the loan be fully secured. They will put a lien on personal property if you have it, but if you don't then the bank can still do the loan if they business is strong enough. In other news, I've mailed out 23 letters so far with another 6 going out tomorrow. Haven't had...

Exiting the Slowlane by Buying a Business

    HOT! SLOWLANE EXECUTION
Been busy on several fronts related to this lately. The first is an issue related to SBA loans (which I will need to buy a significantly sized business). If the loan is over $500k (which most certainly will be in my case), the SBA requires the loan to be collateralized. The first assets they...

So an update on my acquisition. After months of waiting to receive the company's year-to-date financials, I finally received them and they weren't good. Revenues dropped by about 30% and EBITDA by 40% (on an annualized basis). The owner stated this was due to people spending less money on...

After a lot of searching, I have a letter of intent in place for a landscaping and snow removal business here in the Salt Lake City area. Now moving forward with the due diligence and SBA loan application process. If all goes to plan, the acquisition should close by mid-November.

Starting (and Fastlaning) a lawn care service business

    GOLD! HOT!
Just read this whole thread from start to finish; I'm actually meeting with the owner of a lawn care and snow removal business here in Salt Lake City on Sunday about potentially buying it. It's doing over a million in sales annually, so I'm curious to see how his processes and policies compare...
