I did mine as S-Corp to save on social security tax. Also, New Jersey has skyrocket high corporate taxes. Wouldn't it be a good idea to to have an option to elect not to pay social security tax at all, decline the benefit in the future and invest the money ourselves?

Great post Diane! Since we addressed entities and asset protections - is that protection sufficient for a typical consulting business (1 person LLC running as S-corp), providing IT services for large Fortune 500 companies, or an additional errors & ommisions policy is a good idea here? If so...

Sounds like a good reason to plan a trip to the West Coast or PHX. Count me in. Sounds like we also have a number of tri-state based folks (NJ/NY). How about something local in addition to?

    Choosing A Vehicle

    OFF-TOPIC
For low cost car market, I think Japanese cars have had the best price/quality ratio as well as resale value. I bought a 1 yr old Civic in 1999 for 13k from a private owner and sold it this summer for 4k after driving almost 150k miles in 8 years on a 1.6 liter engine!

    REAL ESTATE
What is your best experience in finding leads for investment properties if you invest away from your home area? Those I try to use, are real estate investment clubs, craigslist, FSBO listings, even calling numbers on "we buy houses" street posts. Wonder if I miss anything good. A funny post I...

PoA can be action limiting. I think with experience, guts intuition comes in and a good decisions can be made in an instant. I sometimes catch myself in "I realy like this, should I spend more time checking a few more hoping to find a better one or just take this and move to the next item".

    The Best States For Business

I've lived in NJ for the last 7 yrs. and looking for way out :pullhair:. Property taxes are killing and winters are horrible. Although, for anybody addicted to New York City lifestyle, it offers good quality of life at the lowest cost in the area (comparing with CT and NY). And agree, beaches...
