A physicist's guide to learning hard things (and using the scientific method)

    GOLD! MINDSET
Absolutely brilliant post mate. If there's one useful thing my engineering degree has taught me, it's how to learn things very freakin fast. At uni you have no choice but to pick up and apply concepts quickly, and this gets drilled into you for years. I found the best way to learn is by...

Should you create a separate LinkedIn profile for your business?

It's generally better to tell your work that you're doing it, but usually as long as what you're doing isn't in direct competition to your workplace they shouldn't really care. But as always, it depends.

Your post above on making contact with seemingly unreachable people (via LinkedIn, then email, then phone) was gold. Thanks for that.

Update: I went overseas for 6 weeks studying in Europe. Amazing. Got a person with huge knowledge of the industry onboard. He has connections with tonnes of useful people. Going to speak with lawyers soon to sort out copyright and IP. Android app is done. iPhone app is 95% done.

Hey Marco, cheers for the message. Your app sounds cool. That's an interesting funnel idea. If your app is your money maker then it wouldn't be an issue for Udemy to be taking half your money from the course right? Thats assuming the course is purely just a funnel to the app. I don't want to...

I went to what I thought was a little business event in Newcastle tonight. Well I thought it was gonna be little. Turned out there was about 600 people there to see this Aussie social media marketing guru guy speak. Kerwin Rae is his name. It was free event, hence the numbers. But he actually...

The last couple of weeks have showed me how hard it is to do everything. I've made barely any progress on the app as I've been super busy with university and real life stuff. Being final year of my engineering degree is unsurprisingly a tonne of work. It's legitimately taking up all my time. I...

Another lil journal update. The backend of the app is now complete and I'm working on the UI. I didn't realise how much work needs to go into a polished app. Every bug needs to be squished, every image needs to be perfect, every icon at the right scale etc etc. This all takes so much time...

I've started two businesses previously, and both times the first thing we did was get the business name registered and the bank account set up and all that rubbish that I've now learned means nothing. This time around I've focused on building a product while already talking to prospective...

Thanks 404profound, that is exactly the kind of stuff I've been learning about lately. Obviously, the best learning is putting it into practice, but its good to know I'm on the right track.

I'm starting this thread for a number of reasons. The first one is to document my progress of building up my business. My business is within the mobile AR world, and still in its very early stages. It's a B2B marketing tool essentially. I personally developed a beta version of my app which I...

How do you pay the bills while working on a fastlane business?

This is exactly what I'm doing next year when I graduate uni with my civil engineering/business degree. I could choose to work at a consultancy doing 60-70 soul crushing hours a week. Or I could go work for the local council, on very similar money, doing 32 hours a week. The latter option...

    Anyone using Flutter?

I haven't used it but it looks promising. I've been using Unity recently to develop some apps and the ability to pretty easily export between ios and android saves so much time.

To code or not to code?

    WEB/DIGITAL
Damn I've learnt so much stuff since this post. I've built a couple of Android apps that utilise Firebase which allowed users to upload info to a server which other users could then view. I've also done a lot of AR and VR work in Unity. I'm focusing far more on AR at the moment as there is...

Do you guys refund shipping fees as well?

A watch company (cant remember which) did this for me. Watch turned up broken and they gave me a full refund, plus a $50 voucher for their store and let me keep the watch. Pretty cool of them.

Which Online Courses Have Provided the Most Value to You?

I can relate to you on the need for constant learning. I enjoy the courses on Codecademy which provide a brief intro to programming. To actually learn anything though you then have to go away and put the concepts to use in an actual process. At the moment I'm learning AR and VR development just...

Bitcoin / Cryptocurrency Discussion (And Predictions)

    HOT! CRYPTO
Here's a few points that I think could provoke some interesting discussions. 1. When would you say Bitcoin is stable enough to actually use it to buy everyday products? I.e. when is it no longer an investment? Is it a dollar amount? Is it an adoption amount? Or would you never use it for...
