    Just an FYI. A lot of resorts are already going to re-loadable credit card type lift tickets. You then just keep the card in your pocket and they have turnstiles at the lift that scan through your clothes. My guess is it wont be long before all resorts go to something like this...

    If you are looking to program, the O'reilly books are, in my opinion, the best on the market. There are both reference books as well as "cookbooks" with great examples. You can build a website in any language you choose, php, perl, etc. You just need to the concepts first.

    Your hard drives should not be going "obsolete". As long as the data is not corrupt you should able to retrieve your files regardless of which operating system you are using. They make usb devices that you can use to connect hard drives via a number of different connection types, IDT/SATA, etc...

    I believe the whois command still hits the registrar's whois database. It does go to internic first, to find out which whois database to use during the lookup. You can see the flow in the output. Registrars are required to maintain their own whois information.

    I've seen this happen even with registrar (creditable ones) whois lookups. You have to be ready to buy when you are searching. Don't take any chances...
