Netflix Price Increase - Sidewalkers Unite!

    HOT!
Studios are starting to play hardball with Netflix - Jul. 11, 2011 From the article: Netflix's streaming content licensing costs will rise from $180 million in 2010 to a whopping $1.98 billion in 2012. Although the price increase is high, I don't blame them. Content owners are clearly trying...

The Great College Scam, Part 2

    MINDSET
Wow! I can't believe kids are paying so much for a college degree. Here in Aus, you're generally looking at 20-25k from a G08 public university. During your studies, you're fully supported by the government and apparently (don't quote me on this) you don't need to pay back your loan until you...

    Dissecting An Entrepeneur

This is something i've been pondering for a while: why is it that some entrepreneurs can revitalize a struggling business while others will run a thriving business into the ground? What are the defining attributes of a good/bad entrepreneur? Can we adjust our own personality traits to resemble...

All this talk about lead generation. I need to jump in !!!

Forum communities are a great way of interfacing with your customers. If you ran a quality forum with good content and community, I would imagine conversion would take care of itself.

Your listings on other companies websites:ex: Powered by ______

    WEB/DIGITAL
The website you linked to, I'd imagine they have some sort of profit sharing/affiliate arrangement with loopnet. If they did become a competitor, loopnet could easily cut them off.

    Rare planetary alignment "Cardinal Climax"

    HOT!
Ahh, I see the approach. It seems like a sizable amount of money would be needed to sustain profitability. Would buying or selling calls or puts perhaps help with portfolio risk or does that create problems within your system? Or is it already derivative based? That is correct. For initial...

    Lumber . . . ghini?

    FUNNY
Wow, that's really cool. I can only imagine how much hard work and effort was put into that project. Nonetheless, I'm sure the person who crafted it feels a great sense of pride when they look at their accomplishment.

    Accuracy of web analytics tools

    WEB/DIGITAL
According to compete.com, rebelsport.com.au only receives an average of 2.5k users per month. I find it hard to believe that a major australian sporting good retailer would have such measly website traffic. How accurate are web analytics tools?

    Help me define "Value"

With regard to business, value is what you provide to a customer. The medium is a product or service, which carries the capacity of fixing a problem or creating a positive experience for the user.

From what I understand about stat arb, it relies on the deviation of long standing high order correlation between stocks. Judging from what i've read so far, the mathematics involved is intimidating to say the least as stat arb is heavily related to quantitative finance. Conceptually, my form...

    My initial blunders

Yep, you would be surprised how many people make money from mmorpg. There are numerous websites such as usfine which make money this way. About a year or two ago, I remember reading about some kid who made between 50-100k from buying and selling game currency.

Np mate, It's my pleasure  I wouldn't worry about focusing your website completely on MMS ticketing. The MMS system is simply one of the methods you can utilize to bring in commissions. Once you have things up and running, make an arrangement with a local cinema to guage it's success...

    My initial blunders

My first foray into business was import-export. It seemed simple: Buy item A and then sell it for a premium. As you can imagine, this was very faulty simplistic reasoning and a recipe for disaster. When i was greeted with the opportunity of importing cheap imitation dual sim mobile phones from...

Whats Your Favorite Book To Read?

    MINDSET
I'm assuming you mean favorite financial/business book? My favorite is the first financial book I ever read: 'How I Made 2,000,000 in the Stock Market' by Nicolas Darvas. A terrific engrossing book written by an early technical trader.

Convincing a business to use my concept

    WEB/DIGITAL
I have to agree. Practically everybody has a mobile phone these days. Adding to this, more and more people are using interactive high tech phones, like the iPhone. This provides a great opportunity to jump into a burgeoning market. For timetable updates and payment forwarding, I don't think you...

Convincing a business to use my concept

    WEB/DIGITAL
From what I understand about lead generation, the hardest part is generating customers. I'd imagine that most cinemas, even the big chains, would have no problem making an agreement as long as you are making them money. Although, you might have some trouble contacting the correct people in order...

    HOT!
I find this theory interesting because it highlights how seemingly irrelevant circumstances can drive the financial markets. Victor Niederhoffer once wrote a paper on font size in newspapers and it's effect on stock prices. Apparently, the font size affected the perception of certain stocks and...
