    This is very common for software roles. I turned down a role at a well known company because of this less than a month ago. I would've had to shut down my app business basically, or they could potentially state they owned the IP.

    I've been in a similar situation where the contract of the job stated that anything I do on my own time could potentially be theirs. How enforceable it is, I don't know. But to deal with it, I left the job & turned down a job offer when presented with the option.
