    That's a good point about mold and germination. The entire packet has to be biodegradable, so most plastics are out. They're meant to be somewhat disposable, and the current standard is birdseed, which has been working fine, but maybe that's a place where there's room for improvement. Thanks!

    Actually looking at wheat, there's really no difference between that and birdseed for my purposes. That should be fine.
