Is there any one in here from Los Angeles?

    PEOPLE
Hello - I'm a native Angeleno who still lives and works in LA, so my thoughts about the city will probably be biased. :) You may well have checked this out already, but in case you have not, here is some info about the garment district downtown: LA Fashion District Feel free to PM me any...

Hello from Denver - self publishing success

    GOLD!
Amazing thread. HfR, thanks so much for your insight and advice. Reading this thread put some much-needed fuel into my tank. :thankyousign: Could you PM me a link to your tool as well? For the other posters asking about structure/plotting, here is a link to such a tool. YMMV: Save the...

I am the center of the universe...

Oh my. That really was the best-worst part of the whole thing. She's oozing Slowlane like an open wound. I hope the manager of that store sees how the employees kept their cool!

What picture for you represents the Fastlane?

    HOT! EXECUTION
Sorry if this is too close to Jake's, but this image represents the Fastlane to me - gaining the momentum to make the leap and leave the crowded bowl of the slowlane behind. Hello, mixed metaphors.

Wow... I couldn't make it through that; my blood started boiling around the :36 mark.

    Anybody here stutter?

    MINDSET
I had a pretty bad stutter as a kid, and on my bad days, it's still something of a problem. The only ways it's been a detriment professionally is when I have to leave voicemails or when reading aloud in front of others. Getting healthy has helped a lot - when I added yoga on top of strength...

    My First Elance Experience

    PEOPLE

Feedback - I have an idea I think has real potential. Am I wrong?

    HOT! IDEA
I think at this point, to get you up and running/testing ASAP, a sharp Wordpress theme would be the way to go. You can always adjust as you grow, plus there's so much you can do with a WP page.

Feedback - I have an idea I think has real potential. Am I wrong?

    HOT! IDEA
    - I'm a n00b to doing my due diligence and am coming up with my own pay certainty tests right now, but I don't think it'd be unprofessional at all. I think success in this part of it would be you emphasizing that you are gathering information and garnering potential interest for a service that...

Feedback - I have an idea I think has real potential. Am I wrong?

    HOT! IDEA
I think there's a definite need for this. Granted, I am out of my 20's, and have always been an introvert, but during those magical 1-2 years when I actually enjoyed going out, :p finding new places to try was always a problem, especially when I moved to a new city. Regarding SEO, I agree...

    Checkout my Website...I need feedback

    WEB/DIGITAL
That was my first thought too - I thought that maybe the "Order Online" was a link. Also, I agree with tchandy, you need an About page. So far, so good, though - I'm looking forward to seeing how you improve your site. Good luck!

Where should I start to create a Mobile App?

    SAAS / APPS WEB/DIGITAL
I agree with Nick that no one or handful of books will teach you exactly what to do, but as a noob to app development myself, I've learned a lot from App Empire and this book: App Savvy - O'Reilly Media - thanks for posting those links! I'm working on an app too, and as a beginner, I'm...

OKay guys. Here's my idea! No NDA's! Nothing but my idea!

    IDEA
+1 - that was the first thought I had when I read the first post. I learned quickly (and the hard way) that it's way too easy to get stalked when you check into a place A., when you're still there, and B., if it's a place you visit regularly.

Are you giving it your best half-hearted shot????

    MINDSET
I'm a freelance contributor to the Onion News Network (the videos), so it tickles me to no end to see this posted here. Here's another one that so depressed me that it was the inspiration to open up an ebay store: Day Job Officially Becomes Job | The Onion - America's Finest News Source

    Craigslist advice

Definitely. One time while on my way to go pick up an item, the seller called me and said, "oh, I didn't think you'd be a woman". Then he paused and said, "Does anyone know you're heading here?". So that one didn't work out. Thankfully. If it's big stuff, I'll repost it on CL as soon as...

Just gave away my first copy of Fastlane

Whoa, that is an awesome idea. If you don't mind, I'm going to start doing this - this is perfect to make sure that the books go to people who are actually motivated, or to at least start talking about them. I've only given a few books away, but it's always disappointing when people admit that...

Aggressive And Unsolicited "advice" from LIFELONG "Sidewalkian" drones!

I agree with Lights, don't share too much of your plans with people who are set on staying in the slowlane. You're not going to change their minds. What you described seems like one hell of a comfort zone, and I hope you are reaching out to connect with other like minded people, as SurfCEO...

    Craigslist advice

Yep. Mostly foot and headboards at first, because they are easy to store when not working on them. Most of the time they just needed to be cleaned and a have a few scratches sanded out then lacquered over. Emphasis on cleaned. When I moved to a bigger place I added coffeetables and certain...
