The End of all Sidewalk/Slowlane Bashing

    SLOWLANE
This is where a healthy dose of "minding your own business" always comes in handy. I'm focused on my race and how well I'm running it. Anyone else's race is a waste of my time.

Developing a Fastlane Business Via a Content-based Business model?

Tech sites are hard because it's a saturated market and big sites have lots of authority and history. My mate Dan runs a site called Penguin Punk - he gets a good audience and has traction in that space. You need to be technically excellent and your content has to be really high quality to...

Finding motivation when you have a 9-5

    NOTABLE!
I manage this business/job balance reasonably well (in my humble opinion). I made the mental shift a few years ago that went something like this. In my job, I'm responsible for delivering outcomes to my employer. Some days those outcomes require that I spend 10 hours working on it, other days...

Amazon now has its own 'Instagram'

    MARKETING SOCIAL MEDIA
Maybe Amazon could hire Gwyneth Paltrow to handle their health and beauty business. I mean, she totally seems across that market.

    Google Home

    OFF-TOPIC
Next week is my birthday and since Google Home was released yesterday in Australia, I decided that's what my wife would buy me. We wandered down to the electronics store and picked one up yesterday morning along with a Belkin WeMo power plug for our TV. OMG is that thing fun! When our dog was...

Is Lack Of Money Excuse To Not Do Affiliate Marketing?

    MARKETING
I have no idea what you're talking about. I said that I have personally done affiliate promotions for big named gurus who have left me unpaid amounts of money up into tens of thousands. No idea who John Crestani is and pretty much don't care - he hasn't stiffed me on an affiliate payment.

Is Lack Of Money Excuse To Not Do Affiliate Marketing?

    MARKETING
Affiliate revenue should be a secondary ancillary income source. Purely opportunistic. I will occasionally promote tools and services that I use which I think are unique OR are doing some kind of crazy special deal. I've been down the hardcore affiliate marketing path and have had gurus...

    Alien Visit

    OFF-TOPIC
I think aliens write songs like Despacito and make them popular to see how we'll react and to punish us.

    Solopreneurs Doing $1M or More...

    GOLD! EXECUTION
I have no interest in building a billion dollar business at this point in my life... I'm pretty comfortable shooting for complete financial independence. If someone came along and offered me billions for something I've done, I'd not say "no", but I wouldn't actively go out of my way to create...

There's an alternative point of view that says that "the market" is owned by the people and managed by the government. If you want to operate in that market then you have to pay royalties in the form of taxes. What's the appropriate royalty for access to the market? 25%? 40%? 55%? 70%? The...

What skill would you say is the most valuable in today's economy?

    HOT!
Audience building. If you can get a crowd of people to follow you, then you should be able to monetize that.

This is where I guess I differ from a lot of people. People who earn less than $50k/yr basically spend all of their money - they're good for the economy. Taxing them shifts money from people who spend it, to the government, who are absurdly bad with our money. I would rather poor people drive...

NO ONE cares about your business

    HOT! EXECUTION
I have heard this from people a few times over the years. I usually extend it out to - "I would do it for free... of risk." They'll happily take your money to be your employee, but they won't put any skin in the game.

Here in Australia, the top 1% earn AUD$250k per year and the average income of the top 1% is about AUD$465k. The top 0.1% are at about AUD$650k. I pay 45% above $180K on my personal income, plus for the last three years 2% for "budget repair levy" to try and control deficits (hasn't worked)...

Blogging for Profit (With Legendary GOLD Follow Up Posts)

    GOLD!
This is another one of those unreal, epic posts on this forum that you find occasionally. So much gold. Blogging for dollars is nonsense, there are literally tens of thousands of numpties doing that unsuccessfully and people point to a few unicorns and say, "Look what's possible." The...

Hey @JustJoshing - if you're using ActiveCampaign for your email service provider then ActiveMember360 is top shelf, the guy who runs it, Bob Keen is a great guy. A couple years back I used to use Infusionsoft and had his iMember360 plugin for a membership site, I killed it off, but forgot to...

    Introducing Myself

    INTRO
You should read Scott Adams' book, "How To Fail at Everything and Still Win Big" - he talks about his struggle with developing a vocal chord disorder and how he was able to overcome it. Obviously not sure if you have the same problem, but it might help you reset your mental game around this issue.
