What book are you reading? Right now. Post up!

    NOTABLE! HOT! BOOKS CHAT
Cashvertising. Really, really good so far. I'm dedicating the next couple of months to getting better at copywriting, since I already have all the technical skills that I need to create anything.

Online CS/Programming Course As a Fastlane Business

Oh I agree. I think Udemy says the average instructor only makes like 7k total, which is nothing. I mentioned Udemy only as a way to get started. I wouldn't depend on them to offer the courses in the long term.

Online CS/Programming Course As a Fastlane Business

Ok. I obviously don't take courses since I don't need to, but I did do some research and saw people complaining about Codecademy not being that useful, for example, because they missed the "big picture" when learning there, because it wasn't project-oriented.

Online CS/Programming Course As a Fastlane Business

I'm a software engineer, and I've been struggling to find an idea (a problem!) for my next project. I used to spend months working on failing projects because I was going about it the wrong way. MJ's book helped me a lot! Anyway, I enjoy teaching (simplifying complex topics), and lately I've...

First Idea Fell Through - How to pick yourself up and start again?

    IDEA
Happens all the time. The important thing is that you learn how to not waste time again. I've wasted months working on projects to later realize it was a mistake. No more though. The last idea I had was a few weeks ago. It took me one week to realize it wasn't going to work. The important thing...

    I've Read The Millionaire Fastlane!

    GOLD! HOT!
I finished it like 3 weeks ago. It was exactly what I needed. It's THE book for aspiring entrepreneurs, period. It made me realize what I've been doing wrong. If I had read it before it would have saved me so much time. I realized I wasn't focusing enough on NEED. Your thought process changes...

    Congrats MJ DeMarco

    BOOKS
I finished the book a few days ago. It is THE book for aspiring entrepreneurs, period. I feel like I finally have the last piece of the puzzle that I've been missing. After reading MJ's book, I feel prepared. If I had read his book before, and read through some of the Gold threads here, I would...

Golden Nuggets- Tips, processes, & How To's

    GOLD!
That's some great stuff! My last two projects took me 6 months, and 8 months, respectively, to complete. All that valuable time wasted! But I learned something after each failure. I refuse to write another line of code before testing my idea.

    TOXIC PEOPLE

    HOT! PEOPLE
I had a friend of 16 years who I started noticing, was jealous of how my life turned out, to the point that I couldn't be his friend anymore. He's always been one of those people who look for shortcuts in life. His life is shit because of his own decisions but I started noticing that he resented...

New Social Network Blowing Up (Exciting!)

I don't think it will go anywhere. There is nothing special about it. No ads? Hmm. Yeah, neither did Facebook at first. I don't get the hype.

if there was an adult version of StumbleUpon based on your fetishes would you use it?

    HOT!
I'm not sure I would use it. As others have said, it's not hard to find exactly what you want from the existing video sites. The latest project I created is a cross-browser bookmarking site with a good feature for hiding links by saving them under a separate link space. It also allows you to...

    I Can't Take it Anymore!

    INTRO
I created an account here a little while ago but never introduced myself. I'm a 32 year old Software Engineer. I've been creating side projects for many years. I feel like each failure gets me closer to success because of what I learn each time. I'm in the middle of reading MJ's book, and it's...

What Color Ferrari Should I Buy? (I Have Twenty Bucks)

    GOLD! MINDSET
This is soooo good! I deal with this all the time. I know people who talk about spending more money on infrastructure to make sure their unlaunched, unproven website with 0 traffic, will scale once it goes viral.

Learning to Program is STUPID! (or SMART?!)

    GOLD! HOT!
Very true. Most of the programmers I know have never even done side projects at home. They just go to work and code what they are told to code, which I find kind of weird. I don't regret becoming a Software Engineer because it gives me the ability to create anything I want from scratch without...

Learning to Program is STUPID! (or SMART?!)

    GOLD! HOT!
I've been a Software Engineer for about 12 years, and have created many side projects that never turned into anything. The truth is if you want to be rich, the best skill to have, in my opinion, is selling. If you know how to sell, you'll never have trouble making money. That's what I've...

Learning to Program is STUPID! (or SMART?!)

    GOLD! HOT!
I've also been a Software Engineer for a while and I just recently started learning about copywriting. A few years back I also sold an ebook I wrote online, but I didn't know anything about copywriting back then. I made some money but nothing great. Now I'm seeing how powerful it is to know how...

Learning to Program is STUPID! (or SMART?!)

    GOLD! HOT!
I guess that depends. It's a lot easier when at least one of the founders is technical I think. One of the problems is that it becomes hard to spot good and bad engineers. Someone not familiar with programming may not know if the people he's hiring are writing good code. Then of course, there's...
