    I'd say the LAST thing you want is to have a manufacturer designing your clothing or brand and logo. Manufacturers do one thing **manufacture clothing.**

    Define your target market, create your brand atmosphere, then dive into your business name. There are to many factors to list. I really wanted a symbol like you mentioned that would be easily recognizable. In the end, I opted for one that is the brand name, logo, and symbol all in one.

    You are over generalizing. Do some research on wholesale vs retail. There are many eCommerce businesses that acquire product direct from the manufacturer and sell direct to the consumer. No wholesaler, no retailer per se.
