Question for other writers -- @Rainy_TX, @COSenior, @Held for Ransom, @GiroudJD, @Thriftypreneur, @Dave C, @joanna and anyone else who I may have left out: How do you come up with your next story line/plot idea? Obviously, research is a big part and it's important to model your books around...

I just released the third and final book of my second series yesterday, and then released the compilation of all three books as well. Amazingly, I've now sold a combined 5 copies in the last 24 hours with just those two titles (and just the U.S. store), which is much better than any other title...

What's beautiful is literally watching the sales begin to happen, right under your eyes. One by one, momentum increasing, until it's 2 by 2, then three, and so on. On our way to the Fastlane!

Just for others who might not yet be doing this.... I read somewhere that every book should have links to other titles by the same author, and even other authors (if it's under one 'publishing company'). In case this helps anyone else, here's what I do: I found another self-published author...

    My Take on Self-Publishing

    PUBLISHING
This is exactly why I started my progress thread. After seeing enough people in various stages of the self-publishing career, I realized it's foolish for me NOT to start down this journey, which includes keeping detailed accounts in a progress thread.

Two freelancers finished their stories for me yesterday, and the one that I've read so far is spectacular. I was completely roped into the plot, which is awesome. Now to create a cover and publish it. Also, yesterday I got my FIRST email subscriber! Good stuff!

I have seven or eight, but they're all short stories. 1. One non-fiction, but it only sold one copy. 2. Seven short stories, including one compilation of my first finished series.

DaveC, Great work so far! I think the key, at least in my novice opinion, is to publish the very best you can do, in a reasonable time. So push out that novella, make sure you gave it your best effort (without rewriting and editing a million times), and move on to the next one. If you gave it...

I just finished brainstorming and planning my first short novella. I've been writing and re-writing plot guidelines in order to better comprehend and understand an ideal/typical story line. Today I'm finally starting to write the actual book. But, for the possible benefit of others, I wanted to...

Lleone, Many people on this forum are inspiring me, including CoSenior. Just absolutely awesome watching everyone's progress. I've been seeing some awesome books hit the charts on Amazon's store and I'm wondering if I know any of the authors. Not as many words as most, although I don't mind...

@COSenior Thanks for the quick reply. I've been focusing on finding quality freelancers, and now I'm beginning to embark on my first novella, as opposed to strictly short stories. It's encouraging to see positive reinforcement in the form of sales, and I want to keep track of everything I can...

Does anyone know how to view all sales made total, including the US, British, German, French and other online stores? I can see reports in the KDP dashboard for royalties made for the last six weeks, but that is still broken down by each store. Thoughts? I'm just realizing now that if I...

Similar to @Dave C 's thread I'm following a fun route so far. Four fiction short stories published so far, 2 are free right now, and the other two started to make a few sales. I've set them to $0.99 only because I find it hard to justify $2.99 for my first books ever, considering the quality...
