First Clients; Advertise to Chains or Independent Operators?

I think YOU need to be the one doing sales at first. You have to figure out what the pain points are, and how to pitch your product, in order to train others to do so. He is not asking whether he should leave out 50% of the market, but just what segment to start with.

First Clients; Advertise to Chains or Independent Operators?

I would definitely start with Independent Operators. If you start off with a bad or ineffective pitch then the chains will quickly tell all the others not to bother you, vs independent owners which will give you a chance to tweak your pitch and product as you go.

I know the guy that owns Baseball Pitching | Pitch | Velocity | Program - Topvelocity.net, which is an online pitching coach - similar to what you want to do, except with baseball. He has a lot of different programs that he offers you can check out for ideas. He has a blog and a forum, as well...

Like eveyone else, need advice ASAP Fear of the "Slow Lane"

    HOT!
Start an affiliate program, and offer it to personal finance bloggers. But if you don't have $25 to buy the book, you need a decent paying job to get yourself into better financial position, IMO.

    Custom Furniture Business

In order to get it into retailers, the price would skyrocket because of their markup, so I think that's out. It would have to be Direct Sales. Expanding outside of his current geographic region would also be difficult based on high shipping costs. So, I don't really see Fastlane potential...

    Custom Furniture Business

My brother is making me some customer baby furniture (size, color and my Initial all customized), and has several people interested in buying one as well. I told him he could put a flier up in my store to try to get more customers... His cost on the piece is about $200, and he would sell it for...

    Combining B&M with E-Commerce

    WEB/DIGITAL
So I'm still researching this, but I've decided that I will (eventually but not necessarily right away) need to move to a different e-commerce platform. The best 2 that I've found are Shopify and BigCommerce. In case anyone else is wondering, here's a good break-down comparing the two...

Use unexpected funds to payoff debt or grow business?

Paying off $30k of debt and keeping $20k float sounds like a very good idea to me. Of course, that assumes that you have at least $30k worth of debt with > 10% interest. I would only pay off debt with high interest, regardless of the amount (as long as less than $40k). Also, focus your debt...

Use unexpected funds to payoff debt or grow business?

It depends... What interest rate are you paying on your debt? What would being debt free allow you to do? What would a $50k investment into your business allow you to do? $55k of debt, including a mortgage, is not bad at all... I am against paying down a mortgage early (no reason to because...

FastLane - Day by Day - Join me

It seems to me that every school has at least one student run newspaper (mine had 3, I think), which features ads. Every local bar and business that appealed to college students advertised in here... Why do students need another source of Ad's? Why do local businesses need another way to...

    Food Business - Family Recipe

Wowza, glad you found this thread commoncents! Thanks for all of your input, Speed+++. In order to get into the local farmer's market, they have to come inspect your kitchen and give you a thumbs up, essentially. From what I hear it's pretty simple - just making sure it's sanitary. Booths are...

    Food Business - Family Recipe

So it turns out that the recipe was in a local recipe book, and is not quite the "family recipe" that I believed it was... I had planned to copyright the name, but it was used before in this recipe book, so could I still copyright it??? Should I change the name instead?

My FastLane Business - Day by Day Story

"I'll just franchise!" is an inexperienced and niave thought process, in my opinion. Franchises work quite well in some businesses, but for such a small service business, which could be very easily copied, I don't see it working. In order for someone to pay a franchise fee, there has to be...

    "Allowance" for kids?

    OFF-TOPIC
I have read a few books on this subject, as I believe it's incredibly important in shaping a child's view towards money (and now have a baby on the way with my wife). None of them are perfect, but the best book I read was "Raising Financially Fit Kids". My plan is to pay for all my child's...
