Is software freelancing a good undertaking nowadays?

Or get found when someone's looking, or get referred. I say this because people seem to think it's more complicated than it is.

    CHAT - AI -
I'm not talking about marketing for other people specifically. I like to think of your market as the people already spending money to solve the problem that your product or service can also solve. If there's nobody spending money then you don't have a market. It also simplifies how to get in...

    HOT! CHAT
Wow. Maybe I should stop ignoring YouTube (and search)? EDIT: And maybe I should put some ad spend behind it?

The Artificial Intelligence (AI) Random Chat Thread...

    CHAT - AI -
I'm reminded of this thread I created years ago: HOT! - MINDSET - Stop Building Stuff Building stuff is easier than ever before. Which means more people will be building stuff. Can you connect people with something they want to spend money on though? That's the "new" challenge (hint: it...

The marketing channels are a moat, and the data collected is a moat. We could copy an application front end and functionality, but we don't know what data they're collecting, and we don't know what they're doing with it. Are they watching how customers use their platform and improving it to...

Was this action faking? I want your opinion

    EXECUTION QUESTION
You've reminded me of when I had a contract doing the Google Ads for Groupon... Loads of people search "wedding venues <locatio>", and we'd get clicks but no online bookings. Not surprising really. The searcher learns of a great venue and then arranges to visit. They're not going to meet...

Had a quick look at your Google Ads video. Spotted some of the campaigns have display network on, so check if that's working for you and turn off if not. I'd create assets too. They can really increase ad CTR.

And our Google Ads strategies is to target ALL locations, and with the same bid price. Dublin gets more searches by name than each of the 100 suburbs, but its more competitive. Ad position is higher for the small locations and no-one else has the locwtion in the ad, just Dublin if they even...

It makes me want to cry that such basic advice needs to keep being said. Maybe @MJ DeMarco can add a "For the love of God, please start" bot to randomly reply to threads if the talk v action ratio reaches a threshold?

Doh. I didn't see the link as I'm blind to the links midway through sentences now. I went and deleted my comment after rereading and spotting it, but you'd already read it and realised I'm blind.

If the client is happy then isn't everything okay? There's loads that do hang out online though, so maybe focus on those? There's a Facebook group in the UK of 33,000 drainage guys for instance. I don't post in it but sometimes people tag me and I've had a handful of leads, even one this...

It's simpler for you and them to get started. It's a well known business model and easy enough to sell (to people interested). One time I met a window repair guy in Dublin to discuss running ads for him. At the end he asked how he'd pay me. I said "Well, I could charge per lead." To which...

@MTF ... ask ChatGPT how to make money publishing books on Amazon. Tell us how good it is. I don't ask AI for tips on how to create Google Ads. It's responses are garbage. It's the average of the average, bland, bullshit you'd get asking someone in Google how to set up Google Ads. I ask AI...
