FCC is about to repeal Net Neutrality

    HOT!
This seems like a great solution to increasing competition, although it does introduce the invasiveness of government "stealing" the effort of large corporations (who laid the wire, maintain it, whatever) and doling out access to it for the little guys. It feels like one step removed from...

    Selling my Ecommerce Business

    GOLD!
I had very similar results with "me too" products. Realistically if it's hard to differentiate your product and you aren't a top ranking search result, 10 per day is probably pretty normal in most categories on Amazon.

FCC is about to repeal Net Neutrality

    HOT!
Well there was that time where Comcast held it's user's access to Netflix for ransom unless Netflix paid Comcast for all the traffic the service was using. Best explanation I could find: The inside story of how Netflix came to pay Comcast for internet traffic Relevant quotes: This is...

FCC is about to repeal Net Neutrality

    HOT!
What do you do when corporations are the ones having the laws changed to their benefit through back-room deals and lobbying? When the government won't listen because they've been purchased, corporations won't listen because they were the ones doing the purchasing, and competition is impossible...

New Business Models for Post-Net Neutrality Era

Here's a link to my reply in another thread on this subject on what Comcast (and others) have done DESPITE net neutrality laws: FCC is about to repeal Net Neutrality So.... yeah.... Scary version: Comcast owns Hulu. They could very realistically block access to Netflix, block search results...

FCC is about to repeal Net Neutrality

    HOT!
Out of curiosity - does this mean you are in favor of the elimination of net neutrality? If so... what good do you see coming from it? I want more competition, not less, and I see a lack of neutrality to be a blow against competition and technological advancement in many different ways. It...

FCC is about to repeal Net Neutrality

    HOT!
Here's a 3 minute video on what NN is and how things can change if repealed: View: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wtt2aSV8wdw The biggest problem is that it discourages competition by allowing a select few to punish the entrepreneurial efforts of their competition as they see fit. You...

2018 Fastlane Summit - Lunch Buffett (Vote)

    MEETUPS
I think the best option there would be Asian. Hell - spring rolls and rice by themselves makes a nice, light lunch. (The preceding recommendation may have been a slight nod towards my preference)

If Your Business Runs on the Internet, Read This.

Netflix effectively (to my surprise) combatted VPN usage on their service by banning huge swaths of known IP address ranges from the major VPN providers. Nobody thought they could do a damn thing to stop it, until they did. I'm not familiar enough with TOR to know if it's possible to lock it...

2018 Fastlane Summit - Confirmed Speaker List

    MEETUPS
Oh man, that's right - so sorry to hear that. On the plus side, you can look out and wave down to my wife during the game as she'll be there. She'll be the cold redhead drinking beer and wishing Ottawa was actually playing. Sadly I will have to kick back at home by a warm fire drinking whiskey...

If Your Business Runs on the Internet, Read This.

Best guesses: 1. I'm fairly certain other countries are free to operate however they like, however there is no denying the importance of the USA's internet user base in the global economy, nor the possibility of other countries copying the USA's lead. 2. The problem is there is no "Joe Blow...

Here's a scary graphic. It's almost certainly a mock up to sensationalize the problem but it gets the point across:

If Your Business Runs on the Internet, Read This.

It theoretically would change the entire user experience as it's known today. Imagine if you lost 40% of your potential customer base because those users didn't opt in for the "streaming" or "shopping" package from their ISP. Imagine trying to advertise in a world where you have to worry if...

What does the Insiders look like?

    HOT!
Thank you papi016 for at least considering what we've had to say. Believe me when I say it's rare to hear that in threads like these. Don't take this the wrong way, but this is the thought process of a child who has yet to start their adult life. If you want to do just about anything in life...

I get that someone your age feels "above" having a job but it's simply not the case. The fact is, you can't afford $30 and are justifying your unemployment through unproven and lofty future business expectations. You say you sell things on ebay for "good profits" but can't sell more than 5...

How to Get Rid of Negative Friends

    HOT! PEOPLE
Wow, what a dick move. I'd feel pretty personally hurt if that happened to me. I totally get the lack of relatedness they may have felt but that's still some cold nonsense in my book. As the typical host in my social circles there are certainly folks I don't enjoy spending time with, at all...

Am I Being Helpful or Just Being Used?

    RANT
I bet this is Hanlon's razor at work, which states: Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity. Chances are this guy isn't malicious to you. Or thinks he's taking advantage of you. His mind may very well be working along the lines of "I know this guy online...

Isn't it $20-30 for 3 months? Surely you could find $20-30 if you wanted to. I don't claim to know your situation of course but I'm just pointing out that it's hard to believe someone who sees the value in the subscription couldn't scrounge up the money for it.

Best Strategy For Naming a Business?

There's no hard and fast rules but I'd suggest that whatever you choose, you can get the domain and social accounts for it. Use something like Namechk | Username, Domain & Trademark Search to check this stuff in seconds. When I was naming my company I got stuck on this step because...
