    im doing it.............Obama

I agree with this... I feel like I should have no problem keeping my wife & my income below $250k. We'll have no problem keeping our corporate employees below 20 per corp... As long as they continue to allow me to write off Real Estate depreciation, and charitable donations from my S-Corps &...

Are you living your PASSION.....are ya?

"In high school when the guidance counselor asked what you would do if you had a million dollars and didn't have to work.... I never had an answer." - Peter from "Office Space"

How do you all keep your books?

I think my biggest problem is just saving some of the little receipts. Honestly if I pay $800 for tires, I will save that receipt, but if I pay $5 for McDonalds, that receipt will usually end up on the floorboards of my truck and out the door before I know it. - Hakrjak

How do you all keep your books?

Interesting.... I guess we'll have to start hanging onto every single receipt -- this is going to require an even bigger shoebox, and a lot of discipline! haha - Hakrjak

How do you all keep your books?

Is this really true? Can anybody confirm or deny this statement with certainty? I say this, because I've been keeping only credit card statements for something like 10+ yrs now for 75% of my transactions, and no CPA or Bookkeeper that has done my taxes has ever mentioned this before. I've...

How do you all keep your books?

Well as I said above, I'm definitely not the best book keeper ;) I used to keep everything in Quicken, until I lost my hard drive twice in one year and just decided to say "screw it"... So my new plan for the past 5 yrs has been to just toss receipts into a box for each corp, and 1 for...

Owning vs Renting (not real estate)

    HOT!
I'm currently feeling this, because I'm considering buying a camping popup trailer to use for our family camping trips. We want to be able to take the thing camping whenever we want, anywhere we want. The camper I want is about $15,000, but I've found a guy who rents them locally for $69...

BIG NEWS: BofA reducing principal up to 30%

    REAL ESTATE
I know so many people who have walked away from their homes in California at this point, I'd say the damage is pretty much done. Way to be late to the party BofA! You are truly a bank run by a bunch of idiots! Check this true story from an employee fired by BofA: YouTube - Why Bank Of...

How do you all keep your books?

Yeh he's only charging me about $100 per tax return (So 1 S-Corp 1 LLC and 1 personal = $300 + $25 for filing or something)... But he's not doing much for the money, just taking the #'s I give him, and plugging them in. Shop around! I've seen tax people's rates vary by well over $1000 in...

How do you all keep your books?

My cost dropped from $700/yr to $325/yr -- It's not really worth it, but I've been unable to find anyone else in town who really offers a "full service" for a reasonable price -- where they'll take my entire cardboard box and go through it for me at the end of each year. I found 2 firms who...

How do you all keep your books?

Hey Guys, I switched to a new accountant this year, and while he is about 50% the price of my last accountant, he doesn't keep my books for me. He asks that I add up everything, and bring it to him at the end of each year. Considering I'm used to dropping a huge cardboard box on my...

Live a great life on less than $200K/yr?

    OFF-TOPIC
I like where your head is at on this. I own a property in a mountain resort town here that I check up on when I can, as well -- same principal. I don't think you have to get too creative to get your income under $200k in this excercise... It seems pretty simple to me, #1: Incorporate #2...

Live a great life on less than $200K/yr?

You're onto something here buddy. An S-Corporation can host it's "Annual Meeting" anywhere it chooses to. Mine is almost always in Las Vegas, or on a cruise ship in the Carribean ;) - Hakrjak

Live a great life on less than $200K/yr?

    OFF-TOPIC
Charitable donations come to mind.... Each year I donate a % of my excess inventory to charity from one of my S-Corporations. This % allows a rather large loss to flow through to my personal tax return, and generally offset any big gains I might have. I think my accountant explained it as --...

Profiting from the coming healthcare changes?

There are already many docs & mental health specialists who only take "private pay" clients, because it's the best money, and they don't have to deal with the billing nightmare that is Medicare & Private insurance. The problem they have though, is finding those clients. You're probably...

Profiting from the coming healthcare changes?

My idea was to short the entire market, thinking we'd be down by at least 500 by noon today, but it's actually up 50 pts right now.... WTF!?! Totally defies all logic... I don't think you can reliably predict the fallout... i.e. today healthcare companies are UP... (Why??? Prices they can...

I'm still thinking I ran into you in the Vegas airport bar one time, but you've never confirmed it or denied it. Some guy who looked a lot like you (From photos, we've never met) -- Gave me a business card to come stay at his B&B in Napa sometime after a chat with me & my wife about wine and...

These types of games already existed once -- For anybody who was around before the Internet :smx19: and who used to hang around in the "BBS" world... They had games like Empire and Nuke 'Em, where you could play a certain # of turns per day, and try to amass the most wealth, etc... Thought...

Wow, I can not believe that a product like Farmville could rake in $250MIL .... That makes me want to puke -- What kind of IDIOT would pay for virtual seeds to grow on his virtual farm? <banging head against the wall....> :smx4: After all the bright ideas I've tried and failed at over the...
