    The Successful Mindset

Lamboman-I love the sunglasses thing in NY! Very cool. This stuff totally works in my life too.

    The Successful Mindset

    HOT! MINDSET
This is a simplistic and erroneous view of The Law of Attraction. Obviously, bags of money don't drop out of the ceiling of your bedroom. And that is not the claim of The Secret. I've seen enough proof of it in my own life and in the lives of others close to me to know without a doubt that it...

Game idea, but how to protect it?

    IDEA
Yes, I authorized that. The work was done with the client through their attorneys. It was a contracted job. They paid me a flat fee for the design and mocked-up prototype, no future royalties or anything. I retained no rights to the artwork. Some of the design elements were created specifically...

    The Successful Mindset

    HOT! MINDSET
Visualization and acting "AS IF" or the "Fake it till you make it" thing really does work. Since I was a kid, I always visualized exactly what I wanted and it seemed to happen almost effortlessly. My Mom always commented even from a young age how everything always worked out for me the way I...

    Family finances

My husband and I have separate and joint accounts as well. Joint account has the bulk of our money, from which we pay all our regular bills. We each have separate checking accts for miscellaneous stuff in case we each write checks or withdraw money from the debit card. If we both did this from...

Game idea, but how to protect it?

    IDEA
I created the graphic design for a game a long time ago. Attorneys took my designs I did for their client who came up with the game and registered it for trademarks and copyrights. If you invent a new proprietary product or toy, it needs to be patented. There are a lot of books on inventing and...

Can you have more than one business under one LLC

Dispin-I have several different LLCs. Yes, my understanding is that you should have differnt LLCs for different business entities. The earlier post is absolutely correct about liability. You may be able to have 2 similar but separate companies under an LLC, but if a customer sues you, he can go...

    Meditation

    MINDSET
I started meditation after I realized so many super successful people I know do it (including Russell Simmons). It clears your mind, reduces stress and helps you focus. Truly, my best ideas come during or right after meditation. Here's a web site yo help you get started with actual specific...

    The Fastlane Book

    OFF-TOPIC
Michael-You're right. I definitely have a one-track mind (Real estate!) so for me, information on that aspect would be valuable. You had a great suggestion about having follow-up books co-authored by a specialist in a certain area, like real estate. RK did that in his books with his dream team...

    The Fastlane Book

    OFF-TOPIC
Personally, I would love to see actual case studies with financial info laid out. The evaluation of a property/actual cash flow, etc. I would also like to see what creative tactics were used for finding or acquiring properties. And specifics about no money down/ seller carry-back examples, etc...

How did you all get your start?

    REAL ESTATE
CashFlowDepot-I've seen some ridiculously low sales too on props in CA and FL, etc too. Foreclosures/REO etc. The friend in particular that I mentioned isn't skating on thin ice. He makes over $30Million a year and has over $90Million in liquid assets. The house I used as an example was over...

You and Bobo sound fantastic. He's a kick in the pants! Would love to do a Fastlane cruise, but...

You and Bobo sound fantastic. He's a kick in the pants! Would love to do a Fastlane cruise, but my hubby decided that for his pre-mid life crisis, he wants to be a doctor. So he's in medical school. Takes the boards in September. We have 2 little nuggets (daughters) too; our lives revolve around...

    Who here watches Tv

    OFF-TOPIC
I rarely watch TV. Have basic cable so my kids can watch Disney and Animal Planet. I have TiVo so that if I have a show I like (The Big Idea with Donny Deutsch on CNBC, The Fabulous Life if it features mansions) I can watch it when I want without commercials. (That's terrible considering I used...

How did you all get your start?

    REAL ESTATE
Halli-to answer your question, with the way the real estate market is now, my properties are holding steady. I have long-term solid tenants, so nothing much has changed there. (knock on wood). I'm definitely not selling now, though my properties have held their value more than I predicted. Now's...

    Phrases/sayings you like

"Whether you think you can or whether you think you can't, either way, you are right" Henry Ford "No one can make you feel inferior without your consent." -Eleanor Roosevelt "We are shaped by our thoughts, we become what we think" -Buddha "Just Do It" -Nike (all-time fave) "Never, never...

How did you all get your start?

    REAL ESTATE
I got started in my early 20s. Bought my first primary residence for $390k. Saved for the down and borrowed some from the parents. Did some light cosmetic remodeling myself while I lived there and sold it 2 years later for $600k. Took the profit and used it for my down on my 2nd house of...

Need to get out of my job ASAP, it is DESTROYING me.

++Runum. Thanks. I have to agree with the comment on the people you hang out with. I (not so intentionally) seem to have a circle of self-made mega-millionaire friends who are like-minded. I have learned so much from them and attribute much of my success to them opening my eyes to what's...

Need to get out of my job ASAP, it is DESTROYING me.

speedingpenguin-It's really easy for one day to roll into the next. Routine of normal activities can ruin or delay goals and motivation. I would start a mind map on a big sheet of paper. Write your ultimate goal at the top with your income goal as well. Brainstorm and draw lines to the different...

Need to get out of my job ASAP, it is DESTROYING me.

Great Post, Russ. Good reminder for us all to really analyze how we spend our time. I am frequently busy, but not always effective with my time. -Speedingpenguin-I understand you hate your job and want out asap. That's always a good motivator to achieve more towards your goal, knowing that your...

Need to get out of my job ASAP, it is DESTROYING me.

LOL RussH. I totally know what you're talking about. For the most part, I have toned down the "conspicuous wealth" indicators. (It was easy to get caught up in all of the materialism living in Orange County). I vividly remember dropping into an upscale restaurant in Newport Beach for lunch with...
