Re: Mint.com founder - how he did it (170 mill exit after 3 years I just don't like being controlled too much.. getting VC money adds pressure to profit ASAP and VCs are typically looking for great exit. Not necessary my thing.

Re: Mint.com founder - how he did it (170 mill exit after 3 years Only 30 percent?? That's why I wouldn't want to raise VC money for my projects in the future...It might change later on thought, but I love freedom too much..

thinking of giving away equity, please comment.

I gave 10 percent equity to my coder. Can't tell if it's right man yet, but I don't think you need to give away more per person with specific knowledge. But I'm only new to this thing. I got good advice to at first just use idea for recruiting and equity later after seeing the results.. will try...

    Facebook IPO

    INVESTING
I'd say business is changing... esp. internet business... they are not traditional companies. Do you seriously think that you can't monetize a company that has 350 million users???? There is always at least 1 percent that wants to pay for service or something. and it Facebook's case that's 3,5...

    Recommendations on a web developer?

    WEB/DIGITAL
Still mind boggling why anyone would outside design and coding and pay for that and not do it themselves!!!:coco: You can install WP so why can't you do other things too and outsource it? Huh? Isn't people hiring someone to install WP outsourcing it so that they could focus on business just...

    Facebook IPO

    INVESTING
Facebook Connect can be huge deal! I don't think FB is a fad. And I like their patience. They have enough money not to worry about profit and keep improving your process. In my book, that's a road for success..

Black hat??? There was this plug in developed recently on this forum actually.. lol.. But hey, that probably would be only black hat way to do it either way if you want it cheaper. OR you go and do PPC advertising buddy! :)

    Youtube consultant

The secret is good content! Then some initial traffic from relevant websites, forums. Guest post, be active in forums and share the link. BTW, that profession could actually be good source of money in the future. Maybe not YouTube consultant, but video for web consultant! ;)

New age Entrepreneur...Why it is scary.

Well, if you fail then try again with more experience. And if you start a blog on some topic then you learn more and more about it, therefore you become better at it and can use it in real life. You can also learn such thing as setting up a blog and do it for small business or something. Just be...

Sports news site good idea or bad?

    IDEA
Forget word "Quick" in business...esp. in internet with low-budget. BTW, you can be first one to make them pay! Why not? Be the internet mogul of Portugal!!! Act!

Sports news site good idea or bad?

    IDEA
Local - it's a very hot trend in the web right now. TechCrunch and other sites are loving it and lots of startups go there. Yelp started there, Thrillist.com too... Don't discount your country ;)

Sports news site good idea or bad?

    IDEA
Go niche buddy! I'd go NBA, go my favorite team and everything related... then you can get sponsorship from NBA itself maybe or local business. Now this might be better suited for USA people. I also suggest you look at this Gary Vaynerchuk's video on a how to create a TV show on internet, watch...
