From Blackboard to Bedrooms: Homes Born from an Old Board School

    EXECUTION REAL ESTATE
A wise decision that will serve you well in both the near future and the long run. Fusion is great for designing new shapes, but Revit is faster and more intuitive for architecture. You should be able to import your fusion model into Revit and use it as a template for building your new model...

I use PETG for everything - mainly because it is more heat resistant than PLA (which will warp badly in a hot car) but aesthetically it is about the same. You may wish to try acetone smoothing, which only works with ABS. Note that ABS fumes are toxic and must be exhausted when printing. And...

How innovative is your product and how important are aesthetics? If it solves a big enough problem people will buy it and not complain. In any case, getting a dozen quality prints should not be that difficult. Tuning printer settings can usually improve quality, but an easier solution is to find...

    How to get domain knowledge?

    SCALING
What you’re describing is a “Building Envelope Specialist”. There aren’t many of these, and they are largely PhD’s. There is a ton of opportunity in doing proper envelope repairs because most contractors do not do the initial construction properly. But there is a LOT to know and much of it can...

How to extract pain-points from customers without sounding like a maniac?

You really need to read “The Mom Test”. This book is about how to engage people and get unbiased answers to all of your questions with casual conversation.

    Trademark Lessons

    MARKETING TAXES | REGS
Based on what I’ve read you’re right and you’re wrong… You are correct that if you are in a different classification they shouldn’t have a case. Unfortunately, if you review case law you’ll find that “famous“ trademark companies have extensive power and they love to use it. Hell, Apple even...

    Trademark Lessons

    MARKETING TAXES | REGS
Very good point! The letter I received did come from a law firm, probably sent by some minion whose sole job is to search variations of the same phrase all day, every day. Unfortunately, this particular company has a solid history of being unrelenting, so they powers above must be condoning...

    Trademark Lessons

    MARKETING TAXES | REGS
TLDR; your trademark may not provide the protection/benefits you thought it would. A few months ago I filed for a trademark for a physical product brand (proprietary tools) for an upcoming launch. Yeah, I know conventional wisdom says doing this is premature but I wanted to see what I could...

Why Do So Many Fall For Fascism?

    OFF-TOPIC
I would comment, I used to be considered a pretty intelligent guy. But after watching the news I’ve come to realize I’m an ignorant, uneducated, misogynistic, xenophobic, traitorous, deplorable, incel, nazi, fascist.

    MRiabov's AI short execution thread

    EXECUTION
Once again, you appear to be taking on the world. I would suggest you do NOT start out trying to build an “Everything for Everyone” product. You would do well to read Peter Thiel’s “Zero to One”, in which he discusses the numerous merits of breaking down a market and initially addressing only a...

Creating value, right where I'm at

    MINDSET SCALING EXECUTION
Admitting this, actually calling it what it is, is a good first step in shutting this down. So many in this day and age consider $8 lattes and designer shades as creature comforts that just can’t be lived without. Overspending is a habit, like overeating. Put yourself on a “financial diet”...

How can you teach or encourage resilience?

    ASK THE AI
I raised two daughters. When they were young we spent lots of time outdoors, hiking and rock climbing. While they were in elementary school, television was not allowed on school nights. (This is not as hard as you think. They raise hell the first night, grumble the second night, and pick up a...

Trump is certainly volatile and sometimes repugnant, but he’s very shrewd. He brought to the forefront of every American’s consciousness that the US spends more on European defense than Europe does. The immigration debacle just emphasized the situation; American’s are tired of being the Easter...

    Making Change

    IDEA
This post reminds me of a friend who used to come to me for advice and I always gave him sensible answers that he never followed. I finally told him I would no longer advise him on anything because what he was really looking for was not advice, but validation for his poor decisions.

For me or for my Son's?

    IDEA QUESTION
I chose to do both. Working with a younger family member on a couple of ventures is the best of all worlds for me. Combining our non-overlapping skill sets provides the full range of needed expertise, and having a known, trusted, and compatible entity as a partner is golden. The added bonus of...

    EXECUTION
I enjoyed reading this thread, there’s a lot of wisdom in getting your wife to read FLM to make sure she is on the path with you. And kudos for staying the course after dealing with a major curve ball; life can get messy and many get derailed when they have to stop and deal with problems at...
