Reading is Totally Useless if You Dont Take Action

    MINDSET
I smell a deep seeded limiting belief. There's not book that will make you feel comfortable enough to start. I don't know why starting a biz in germany specifically is any different than starting a biz anywhere else. 1) Figure out what you want to do 2) Start doing it. If you run into...

    Castleforge's Non-fiction Progress Thread

    EXECUTION
Hey man, yeah that's my eventual direction. But I'm really just bootstrapping it right now and have to do what I can to first start off. I'm finding balancing of everything a real challenge and I'll have to build consistency as I grow. I've actually got a lot that I'm doing in other niches that...

    Castleforge's Non-fiction Progress Thread

    EXECUTION
Progress: The revenue from this past promotion made me $140.05. I spent $80 promoting, leaving me with a profit of $60, most the profits coming from sales of the new book. Here's a screencap: So I sell the new book, at a promotional price, and then crossell the old book. I expected to make MORE...

I know what you mean. I'm currently ranking videos for boring niches. (Nobody naturally links to "Philadelphia Plumber") But we know the niche. Car parts. That's doable.

Currently paying $500/mo for 4 links + 1 Press Release

    MARKETING
Pay somebody to optimize your SITE. Have them make sure your site is loading fast, you're mobile friendly, you're not redundantly using H1 tags, you're utilizing keywords, etc. You pay them to do that for you ONCE. After that, stop the service. Don't pay for Linkbuilding. G doesn't even...

Hit by Penguin Update - Need Recovery Help

    MARKETING
I'm not an SEO expert by any means. Which means I'm not an expert at 'gaming the system'... which is what SEO is. Google's intent is to give the user what they want... and eliminate spam. It turns out that what "worked" pre-panda was considered spam post-panda. Now google's released...

    AMA about Video Marketing

    MARKETING AMA
I understand now. I've never used a Zoom like that before... I think of the Zoom as it's own microhphone... it didn't occur to me that somebody would want to attach their own external mic into it. In that case you'll DEF want to do some research before you die. With mics like the Zoom, the mic...

BG Backdrop vs Greenscreen shouldn't matter so long as it FITS the situation and is done well. Obviously you don't want to be in front of something that looks too out of place.. but in general a properly keyed background adds to production value. Whatever you put behind you should be...

    MARKETING AMA
HUGE DISCLAIMER: I feel like a D-Bag whenever I link to my own website from this forum. I don't want to be interpreted as some cheesy self promoter driving traffic. Now that I'm producing a lot more content, I realize I'm linking more and more often. I write about these things specifically...

Ah, I didn't understand the situation you were in. I guess it really depends on how 'pro' you wanted to go. Yeah I like your idea of using the Sony. It can be made to work as long as you're sure to bring a sturdy tripod with you. Even if you're on the move with it, still bring a tripod but...

Your opinion is needed! Which one to hire?

    PEOPLE
Even though it's related, it'd be easy for this to tailspin into a discussion about video equipment. I don't want to hijack the thread. I answered this for anybody interested over here: https://www.thefastlaneforum.com/showthread.php/47715-AMA-about-Video-Marketing?p=303531&viewfull=1#post303531

In another thread I was asked a question. I didn't want to take over the thread so I'm answering it here. Spring for a Blue Yeti Microphone. Costs around $100 bucks and it'll be the best microphone you've ever purchased. I've used a Zoom H2 for a while, and I hate it. To get the highest...

If you want to see my 'work' you'd have to turn on your F*cking TV. I WISH I could show you what I've done without being pursued by lawyers just to get you to be quiet. I've reponded to your PMs with the stuff I AM allowed to show you, though I don't know why I'm wasting my time any further...

The thread won't be deleted. Deleting threads that other members have contributed to is considered time robbery on this forum. This thread will get indexed by google and when some lucky fellow down the road googles "failed kickstarter projects" they'll find this and get a few thousand dollars...

You're not entering it in a film festival. It's a kickstarter project. Your goal shouldn't be to make something that people 'love.' Your main goal of your -Copy -Images -Video -Incentives should be to meet your minimum kickstarter goal or you've just wasted the past month of capital. And of...

Tell me why my website sucks...

    HOT!
I would have spent the $1K on video, not traffic. But you all know me.... crazy video guy. My first instinct as a consumer is that this site isn't "legit". Too many times have I gone to buy something only to find that it's a dropshipper selling to me at inflated prices. That image you're using...

Can a fast-lane business be started on WordPress?

    NOTABLE!
Amschel's Stand: Custom built software would probably do the job better, speed things up, and differentiate better from a generic wordpress installation. Rest of Forum's Stand: True, but wordpress is a great free platform for many people just getting started. It may not be the perfect fit for...

Income Inequality in the United States

This just inspired me to make some videos of my own... explaining the wealth breakdown in terms of value using a voice like I'm talking to children.

I dislike the video. It might be too late to put any of this into action.. but as a video guy it's the first thing I notice: 1) Too slow. 2) Voice trying to be inspiring is borderline creepy 3) Sloppy editing (didn't cut on the beat, no rhythm) 4) Looks more like a commercial for kickstarter...
