There's an element of chance to any business. Jenna Marbles learned editing via imovie when she got a macbook at college. After moving to texas she got a job at BarstollSports.com as an apprentice/assistant where she learned how to blog, learned comedic timing, learning social marketing. She...

So I'm chatting with an animator on skype. He's "highly recommended" by a friend. I tell him I need: ORIGINAL animated designs Full resale license rights I don't have the time to do 50+ designs myself by the deadline. I need him to take some of my storyboards and assets and turn them into...

We used to use Photoshop to draw, but now we use Paint Tool Sai: http://www.systemax.jp/en/sai/ There's a free version, I'm not sure where it's limits are but I know it's very popular among Deviant Art artists. Artwork is done directly in Sai and transfered to Photoshop after for color...

I would rather disable ads, and seek independent sponsors outside of YT's network, and integrate them directly into the show

This. Don't count on adsense to make money. Most the time, enabling YT adsense ads is a bad idea. It can cost you retention/views/subs. For what? a few pennies. I personally would rather have the higher chance of a lifetime sub, and then bake a sponsored message or offer directly into the video.

I was finding some confusion about fixed format image only picture books, largely because I've seen the size of the kindle screen change once already, I wonder how many more aspect/resolution changes it will have and what dimensions to cater to.

I once had a client who invested ALL their savings into making a video. If they "didn't make it big" from this video, it was all over. They spent THOUSANDS of bucks on costumes, on my and my crew, on equipment,, on a set. They made ONE video that was OKAY. But when the first one didn't "make it...

That's a lot of assuming you're doing. YT acts more like her PARTNER than her boss All her videos are monetized, which means YT makes money off of her. They don't kill viale and popular revenue streams like that. She's an asset, the same way artists are assets to recording labels or actors are...

My girl has an Intuos, and I have her old Bamboo. If you've never used anything like it before it takes some getting used to, There's also some frustration getting things set up in the beginning (making sure pen pressure's working, etc) but you'll learn fast and things will be easy from here on out.

This dude still blows my mind

    EXECUTION
He could be making double if he wasn't relying on YT ads. If you work DIRECTLY with sponsors he could be increasing his CPM significantly. $80K/day at least. But that'd take time away from the video creation, so it's a tricky balance until he hires account managers.

True. I guess it all comes down to preference. I'm the typa guy that finds value in being able to wake up a 3am and design without having to wait for back and forth communication, but it makes me lack in other areas. To each his own. PS: @Marc B. By this he means that others are willing to...

Normally, inventors and product creators have to pay TONS of cash up front for a usable cad And everytime they want a slight improvement or modification, they have to dish out more money. Combining these practiced skills with a 3d printer, @Marc B. is gaining the ability to rapid prototype as...

I use 3dmax to treat my OBJs before I animated them. 3dmax imports DWGs so that's good. We should work together on some fun projects soon, just to refine both of our skillets more. You make some models, I animate them. I won't be ready for about 4 weeks I'll PM you when I am and we can get rolling

I'm very interested in your progress here. I used to do a LOT of 3d motion design, but I never created the actual models. I just animated stuff that other people provided. What sort of outputs can your program export as? Do you have the ability to export these as objs?

    [Video Marketing] Trying something new

    MARKETING
So here's the deal: I'm trying to raise enough cash to replace this old busted editing rig. For those of you who don't know, a decent 3d rig is between $4K-$30K, depending on workload. I'm trying to stay below $10K. A few of my buddies from my video marketing JV group were very kind and DONATED...
