F in the chat for @GerTex I lost about 1 BTC to cryptsy myself. So it goes. The seed phrase should be all you need to generate the public/private key pair.

There's a lot more going on but my post was getting long enough as it was. But yes, eventually the APY will come down and the price will settle at some indeterminate value/range. Additionally, they plan on adding additional backing assets and many other features. Totally agree re: too many...

Alright, I've been quiet in here lately, but this post got me to step up to the plate and discuss something that has been absolutely blowing my mind over the past several weeks. I'll get straight to it, the project is OlympusDAO. OlympusDAO is an algorithmic stablecoin with a real mind...

@Leo Hendrix already provided a nice list of resources to check out, but I'll add some: https://danromero.org/crypto-reading/ Uncommon Core podcast That said, there's simply no replacement for experience, so as soon as you understand the risks and associated fees, get in and start tinkering by...

If you had to guess, how much of this bitcoin runup do you attribute to external events such as global fiat debasement vs. the internal mechanics such as the block reward halving?

Thanks for the post. When it comes to portfolio allocation, I prefer decorrelation over diversification. E.g., I'd prefer to hold four or five lowly correlated assets over a thousand correlated ones. Bitcoin certainly fits this bill, and in some of my accounts, I cannot (easily) access...

Haha, the funny thing about this is that if the market determines the right price, then the price is subject to the market, thus voiding its objectiveness! Gotta love semantics. :playful:

I hope people casually reading through this are able to zoom out enough to realize that bitcoiners and gold bugs can be friends. I personally store value in gold, bitcoin, real estate, businesses and more, and the world is still spinning. :)

It takes a lot more energy to refute claims than to produce them. Further still, the energy required to reason a person out of a position they themselves did not reason into appears to approach infinity. Now that's a lot of wasted energy.

Why did it revive after falling from $1200? Or $260? Or $30? Or any of the many other times it has crashed more than 30%? I wish I could point to a nice polished crystal clear answer, but such a thing does not exist. My guess is that it's not one thing, but rather countless. From the...

The complexity argument is another one of those arguments that is easy to pick up and run with, but implicit within the argument is the assumption that complexity won't change over time. Email was once too complicated to use for anyone other than engineers and complete nerds. Even in the...

How do you define a bubble pop? Bitcoin has been through several dot-com magnitude bubble pops in its history. I didn't make it out before the last two popped, and I'm guessing I won't make it out before this one pops. I must be doomed.

FWIW, I tend to agree with a future 70%+ drawdown, but the problem is, let's say the exact same thing happens this time as in 2017 and it does 17x from 20k all the way up to $340k. A 70% drawdown would produce a price of $102k. Seems foolish to go short below the future bottom price. :playful:
