I agree 100%. However, with all due respect, one cannot think from first principles if one does not know the principles first. For instance, simply reading the bitcoin whitepaper itself would reveal that bitcoin transactions are neither untraceable nor do they require hours to confirm.

Hmm, I'd have a hard time believing someone who claims to have bought ETH and DOGE before they were created, but that's just me. :playful:

Ah yes, the bitcoin energy argument. It's a catchy argument for sure, and one I must admit I was myself conflicted with for some time. However, it appears that over time, not only is it becoming less of a problem, but it may actually be turning into a bit of a solution...

Now that you did this, it will almost certainly skip $40k and go straight up from here instead.

I know you didn't ask me, but I think it would be very wise to expect/plan for at least one or more big pullback in the range of 30%+ before we put the cycle top in. It may not be now, and it may not be $40k, but it's certainly within the cards and something you should be prepared for, in my...

Ah, so you're just saying that ETH is slow in the sense that its scaling solutions are slow to roll out?

I don't think I've seen that, but seems like something I'd be into. Will check it out. Would you mind elaborating on this? Ethereum is very slow relative to what? Great points. I think in the short term, we may continue seeing the "ETH killer" L1's pump, but on the longer term...

Oh boy, my twitter account is curated to be almost entirely finance/crypto focused, with little exception, and even still I'm following some 500+ accounts. You're free to check out who I follow (https://twitter.com/nitrousflame) but there's too many to list them all out. For podcasts, it...

I've personally found twitter hard to beat for getting nearly live updates, but it requires some initial setup such as picking accounts to follow. Beyond that, there are plenty of options not limited to: reddit, discord servers, telegram, podcasts, youtube, etc, etc.

In short, when it comes to portfolio allocation, of course everyone will have their own preferences and biases, but I think most underprioritize noncorrelation in favor of diversification. Short thread for more: Thread by @TaylorPearsonMe: I believe for most investors, the easiest way to...

It boggles my mind that humans seem to have this burning desire for everything to boil down into simple binary truths, especially when there exists an infinity between zero and one. In my opinion, if you must pick gold OR bitcoin, you've already lost.

Inflation is also great for paying off debts, provided you're close enough to the money to benefit from the Cantillon effect. I sure hope central banks don't find out about this, or things might get out of hand. :)

I might have misinterpreted your original post, thinking that you were claiming that multiple PoW coins cannot operate securely simultaneously. That said, I do think it's important to differentiate GPUs and CPUs from ASICs since ASICs are specific (the S in ASIC) to a particular hashing...

I haven't seen anyone in here address this yet, so I'll take a stab. I think what you might be missing boils down to two main items: 1) The fact that there are several proof of work hashing algorithms, and 2) A thing called deep reorg protection The first one is perhaps easier to understand...

This seems inevitable on a long enough time horizon. Imagine a world of ubiquitous technology, software, automation, AI, etc. Now imagine how value might be created and exchanged. To me, fiat money in such a world would be tantamount to having the USPS deliver your email, or powering a trip...
