    Good idea gone bad

    IDEA
Last month I built a program which could be used for lead generation. It would automatically reply to ads posted in the local classifieds where there is a HUGE amount of traffic everyday. I'm soon starting a job at a car dealership and wanted to use that program. So ideally the program would...

    Is Aerial Photography Saturated?

I called 20 real estate agents around my area pitching them this idea, 3 were interested, 4 weren't, the rest didn't answer. There's definitely a need but it won't be long before it's saturated. There are already real estate agents and photography companies that have their own drones.

Amazon Reveals Plans to Dominate the Gaming World

    EXECUTION
    - note: 2015 numbers are as of July - 2015 was the year Unreal and Unity went free - 37% of games purchased on Steam are never played The quantity of games being released now means that the new barrier to entry has become discoverability. Also, something I never hear anyone mention, the big...

    VR will probably flop

    WEB/DIGITAL
Just got back from a meetup with some other tech entrepreneurs where I tried out the Samsung Gear VR (mobile VR from your phone). Even if it were perfected, at the end of the day it's more of a cool little toy than a practical device. If the task requires speed and accuracy, I can't imagine...

What's your Lambo? What's your WHY or PURPOSE?

    NOTABLE! CHAT
This is my "lambo" one day, I want to bring humanity one step closer to building truly intelligent machines if money were no object, I'd open up my own private AI research lab and work towards that

    Roadmap student

    INTRO
Don't wait till you're "ready", just dive in and start. Take the best idea you can come up with and just do it (try to find something that meets as many of the CENTS principles as you can). Get in the habit of executing. Become a person who does stuff, not a person who just reads and talks...

Could playing video games actually improve cognitive performance?

    MINDSET
Personally, I've come to the conclusion that it's not worth it (for me). - After doing more research I found that there are actually conflicting studies on whether or not there are any real benefits. - Even if there are some cognitive benefits, as others have mentioned, it's true that it does...

Could playing video games actually improve cognitive performance?

    MINDSET
I was referring to how the rate at which a person learns new concepts decreases with age. Also, ability to focus probably increases with age and hides this slowed down learning rate.

Could playing video games actually improve cognitive performance?

    MINDSET
It seems that it's not really a question: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2871325/ http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4373892/ http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4675555/ What do you guys think about this? I'll be turning 27 this year and yesterday my brother who's...

Created my first game, huge success overnight

    WEB/DIGITAL
Congrats on building that. I spent the last 6 months working on a game project which I ultimately abandoned because the game just wasn't fun. What you built looks fun to play. Would you invest countless hours of work for many months building something for a highly competitive business with...

How do you hit the mental brakes?

Obsession = Good : High level of focus Being consumed = Bad : Unintentionally compromising other areas of life, unable to compartmentalize

How do you hit the mental brakes?

It's about principles, you shouldn't let yourself be completely consumed by anything in life because then you start to lose sight of the bigger picture. For example, the problem I'm trying to solve might not even be worth solving but if I'm so obsessed with figuring it out, I won't see that.

How do you hit the mental brakes?

How do you hit the mental brakes?

Sometimes I get so lost when working on a problem, I lose track of everything else. This can go on for days and then I start missing workouts, diet falls apart, start sleeping less, etc. I know it comes back to forming a schedule and sticking to it. Has anyone else gone through anything like this?

    IDEA
Just built an automatic classified ad responder (only works for one site but it's the biggest one around here). So now in theory I could automate any sort of ad posting or ad replying process. Any ideas what I could do with this? Some thoughts I've had so far - Automatically send a resume to...

    IDEA
If I want to talk to someone about air pollution, there are so many ways to do it, why go through the hassle of downloading yet another app?

    Introduction and app idea

    IDEA
Welcome to the forums, these are just some issues I see. - Your idea requires a large crowd of active users to work. - Mobile is not well suited for in depth discussions.
