How do i learn how to code?

    HOT!
In parallel to what @DaRK9 said, it's not worth it to learn to code unless you have a longterm vision for it. Focus on economics, marketing, sales, and leverage the talent pool of outsourced development to progress. If I were to guess, I would expect DaRK is probably over 30 years of age.

How do i learn how to code?

    HOT!
I would disagree with this. Comparing Meteor to Angular is apples to oranges. One is a fullstack solution with everything out of the box, the other is only a front-end solution. Since the former is fullstack, one can swap out the default templating mechanism (Blaze) and sub-in Angular or...

How do i learn how to code?

    HOT!
Because you have to pay for firebase and learn angular. Is there a point to you learning the differences between high level JS stacks? You're still too much of a beginner to be worried about such things.

How do i learn how to code?

    HOT!
Stick with it. MeteorJS is gonna be massive. It took me a year of grinding to really say I actually know what I'm doing. I also accelerated my growth by taking a 9 week coding bootcamp (F*ck university). Your vision will evolve with your skill. Do the fundamentals first. Meteor might still be...

Making Money For Dummies (And In a Crowded Market)

    GOLD! HOT!
@IceCreamKid awesome thread, superb value. Love this part particularily: Especially like the stressing of mindset over specifics. A proper entrepreneur mindset is one that can see through the bullshit. Perception -> Carpet cleaning is highly oversaturated and you'll make no money Reality ->...

    Shopify vs. my own website?

    WEB/DIGITAL
There is a hidden transaction fee, but it's waived if you use their credit card processor. It's definitely an angle for a competitor like Bigcommerce to differentiate. On a side note, from an entrepreneurial marketing perspective, isn't it interesting how Bigcommerce so heavily references how...

    Shopify vs. my own website?

    WEB/DIGITAL
This is the credit card processing fee. Any competitive PCI-compliant credit card processor will charge a markup. Looks like Shopify built their own solution, so they could capture the 2.9% + 30 cents, but they don't force you to use them (you can swap out to other payment merchants). If a...

    Shopify vs. my own website?

    WEB/DIGITAL
I work fulltime at an ecommerce agency. We leverage Shopify for many clients. Shopify: Pros Self-hosted (no deployment challenges, no scale issues) Secure (extremely low risk of getting hacked) Premium marketplace (themes/app cost $ but are filtered heavily by a standards teams Very easy to...

Instagram Marketing ($100K+ profit, 4M followers)

    MARKETING SOCIAL MEDIA AMA
Thanks @JimD Particularily liked: ~2500 likes per day Use a ranged, random delay in between likes Target likes to a specific niche Avoid unfollowing Hmm...doesn't seem overly difficult from a technical perspective... And your path to monetization is to leverage affilate marketing; but you...

NLP, Who Here Has Done A Practitioner Course? What Were Your Experiences?

    MINDSET
I once took Hypnotherapy courses (where one was upsold NLP classes). Opted not to go for any upsell. But of course, I was really self-taught and was able to acquire a mentor out of that class, who happened to be a master NLP practitioner. NLP is one of the most valuable things you can learn...

Favorite Life Hacks ~ What Are They?

    HEALTH
@Delmania you are asking the wrong question(s). It's not about where I go, it's the ease of abuse that even amateur scripters can accomplish if you don't rely on evergreen browsers. Adblock + NoScript is an additional level of security for me, since I'm particularily paranoid. It's probably...

I think you misunderstand. I don't have issues with managing my own time ^.^ NoScript + Adblock is a way to control advertising abuse (and malicious scripts that can hijack your browser).

Great thread, must peruse later with more time. Currently using Adblock + NoScript to limit the power random websites have to abuse my browser. Strongly recommend the pair, not just the former.

The next gold rush - IoT (internet of things)

    WEB/DIGITAL
Everyone's so picking on the easy hanging fruit: Social media Radiowaves profit? Digitalization is the greatest thing to happen to humanity; it's irrelevant to me if others are missing this opportunity posting meaningless shit on Facebook. This era has a phenomenal range of entrepreneurial...

The next gold rush - IoT (internet of things)

    WEB/DIGITAL
@Mineralogic perhaps discovering the Earth was round was a bad direction. Luckily we had the entire world killing scientists as fast as we could. Maybe with some concerted effort from fellow fastlaners, we could plunge the world into the dark ages again?

The next gold rush - IoT (internet of things)

    WEB/DIGITAL
Yes, that will work for now. But that doesn't actually fix the security flaw, you've just temporarily halted access. Are you never going back online again after? @Imgal props to being able to see the significance of cybersecurity. IMO It's poised to become the single most important trade in...

The next gold rush - IoT (internet of things)

    WEB/DIGITAL
Currently exploring IoT production, design, programming, and security with huge interest and fascination. Might have the chops to bring one to kickstarter. Will let you guys know when I do. EDIT: fully agree that this is the biggest thing to happen to humanity, physical reality will evolve to...

What do you guys think of my first app?

    WEB/DIGITAL
Use an influencer platform. There are dozens of competitors. First result on google....(no affiliation) http://traackr.com/ EDIT: You want to reach writers @ tech sites? Look at the articles, look at the author link, and FCKIN EMAIL THEM. TWEET AT THEM. Cmon, you got this far, but a bit...

What do you guys think of my first app?

    WEB/DIGITAL
@rayguy I like the counter argument to the value of a photo filtering app. I was looking at it hacker in, and on the other hand I could see the random appeal that consumers like with that kind of thing...I don't get it, but I'm not your target market. And the deepdream library is pretty damn...
