Who Here Used To Or Currently Files Their Own Tax Returns And Is It Difficult?

    TAXES | REGS
I file my own. It seems like the smart thing to do for me. Do you have time to keep up with all the rules and changes? If not, I'd suggest paying someone. Not me though, I don't do VAT.

How do you keep track of your competitors?

If you're looking to competitors to find new ideas, then you're always playing catch up. Figure out what your market needs, and beat your competitors to it.

Can I be a client to my own LLC?

Agreed with @Kak. At this point, you and your LLC are synonymous. Just attribute any work you've done to the business. Make sure you get client permission before you post anything though, unless it's already granted in your contract.

Own a successful ecommerce business, just found this forum!!

    INTRO
Yes. There was a list compiled here recently: Any reputable business brokers with good inventory? I'll PM you with a couple names. They may or may not be a good fit, but it never hurts to have options.

Own a successful ecommerce business, just found this forum!!

    INTRO
From talking to a couple brokers, e-commerce business supply is pretty low right now. All brokers are having trouble finding inventory. I haven't seen this translate into higher multiples yet, but it could be right around the corner. May be worth putting it out there and seeing if you can get a...

Show Me What I've Spent All My Money On

Yes, but Mint doesn't break Amazon into separate categories. Say you bough a printer, a kitchen island, 6 books and a box of groceries all at one time. It just shows up in Mint as $500 spent, instead of the different categories. I would be very surprised if there is an Amazon API for this on...

    Being disgusted instigates change.

    EXECUTION
And that's fine, but keep building your pipeline. Just because you have one client, that doesn't stop you from calling/messaging more, or creating ads, or whatever is effective in your line of business.

Go prospect. You aren't going to land a contract, close a deal, do the work and get paid all before the business license is completed. Without revenue, the business license is pointless. Find some clients.

You copywriters are being replaced by AI..

    HOT! MARKETING
I would hypothesize that it will replace about 90% of copywriters. I think it will work for the average business, but not for a business that is aiming to be great. I would kindly suggest that in the copywriting field, just like most professions, the majority of people have picked up a couple...

My business is crumbling. I need help

If your new strategy is to only charge for warm leads, you shouldn't have any problems finding new clients. I don't know very many business owners that would pass up that kind of deal.

How to deal with unpaid invoices?

    NOTABLE! PEOPLE
Agree with @Andy Black, if you can't get paid in advance, at least stop working until it's made current. If you want to add icing to the cake, add a startup fee every time work had to be ceased and re-started due to a delay in payment. We'll be adding a clause moving forward that if your...

My experience with Freelancer.com getting more spammy and fraudy

You're doing web design. It would cost like $300 for a lawyer to create a contract for you. The chance of you getting sued is relatively low anyway. If the client doesn't like the work, refund their money. I'm assuming you're creating websites, not apps that will store personal data, so...

My experience with Freelancer.com getting more spammy and fraudy

I wouldn't worry about this. Keep track of income and expenses, worry about the tax part when you're actually making five figures or more in profit. Stop using this as an excuse to get out there and find work.

    Let's Talk About Entrepreneurial Depression

    GOLD! MINDSET
If it's any consolation (and it won't be, sorry), it gets better. We finished building our house Oct 2017. We had our kid October 2017. January 2018 the wife went back to work, and they didn't treat her well because she was on maternity leave (passed over for a bonus and a promotion, both of...

    Boring Business (don’t bother reading)

Should I outsource bookkeeping, accounting & taxes to this monthly subscription company?

    TAXES | REGS
    1. You probably don't need it. Setup a separate bank account, don't mix with personal, and while your activity is low you can just do a year-end summary. I doubt at your size that the monthly financials will give you any actionable insight. 2. I have no idea how that business is making a profit...

How much equity should I give this All-Star?

    NOTABLE! PEOPLE
I think it was mentioned in your other thread, but I'd make sure no equity vests until at least 12 months in. And have a way to keep it from vesting if he turns out to be a dud.
