    This isn't the military, where drill sergeants need to break down recruits to turn them into effective soldiers. Tough love only works on certain people, in certain circumstances. Even then, it's far less effective than empathizing and active listening.

    As do I. I think more people need to acknowledge both negative emotions and personal weaknesses. I think we spend far too much time and energy covering up the fact that we're not perfect, when the reality is everyone has failings.
