Ever wonder how people end up in dead end jobs at 40?

    GOLD!
In some cases, they are trying to avoid getting fired. In other cases, it may be they really do like where they work. I've worked in what could be considered a well funded startup. It was small, only 12 people, and we had to put in a lot of hours. It was probably the best job I've ever. The...

Yep, I read that. I think it was on HN that someone theorized it's partially because we've gone from work that challenging and impactful to work that's mostly throwaway. Where I currently work, I see this quite a bit, people do tasks not because they will add real value, but because of some...

Those people do have the freedom of choice, and they still choose the slowlane. However, one small thing that did bother me about the book and to a certain extent is the negativity associated with traditional employment. Some people do that, and live very rich and happy lives.

In other words, love you do (work hard) so then you can do what you love.

It's possible on an individual level. I have no issues with the theories behind crap like the "mood elevator" and "be here now". It's basically just mindfulness, which has been around for centuries. The issue is that businesses take that, contextualize it to their environments, and shove it down...

Funny how that works? I know of exactly one person who did that. She literally volunteered her time at non-profits helping to build software that improved efficiency. To get to that point, however, she put in quite a few years, lived well below her means, and invested the difference until her...

Thousands, if not millions, of dollars are spent every year by businesses to "culture shape" to "improve employee engagement and productivity". Yet, for me, it never seems to have any impact. More likely than not, I hear people laugh at crap like "the mood elevator" and "be here now". I...

Perfect timing, I felt my slipping back into my old routine, and this thread reminded me of why I'm striving for this.

The Little College That Could. I Know I Can. I Know I Can.

    EXECUTION
Is that per course, or per video? If that the former, my reaction is that's way too low. If it's the former, that's way too high. ;) Most courses I've seen online usually start out at $200. People tend to undervalue their work.

    Veganism / Plant-Based Diet

    HEALTH
Bearing in mind that people do tend to sound different on a recording than in real life, he looks like a fit young man who sounds normal. Is he a competitive body builder? Is there some reason he needs to be bulked up?

    Veganism / Plant-Based Diet

    HEALTH
Having just finished my dinner of organic tomato bisque soup and a grilled cheese sandwich on homemade whole wheat bread, my advice is this: Eat food, mostly plants, not too much. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Should have. Would have. Could have. We all have them. The important thing now is that you start.

While I can appreciate the moral of not giving up, were you scraping because none of the other ways to remove LN (solvents, heating guns, etc) would work?

WTF: Robert Greene's writing in "The 50th law" is insufferable

    BOOKS
Interestingly enough, despite having written a book on power, Greene doesn't actually live by them. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/culture/books/authorinterviews/9695967/Why-Robert-Greene-isnt-who-you-think.html

Does The "Early Bird" Succeed Early?

Furthermore: Vera Wang was 40 when she started her career as a designer. Stan Lee was 39 when he created The Fantastic Four. Colonel Sanders started KFC launched KFC when he was 65. As @RazorCut said, it's a process. None of these people just happened on an idea. They were working at it until...

I love this thread, I've been spending my morning time putting together a little of my goals and breaking them down into daily actions. However, I do have one question, which concerns the quoted part. How do you overcome false narratives, especially for someone who struggles with depression?
