Could really use some guidance. What should my next step be?

Here's my take. It sounds to me like you don't yet have a sell-able product. You need to test market fit and look at the demand for this. That will help you to road map your the feature set for your launch version of the product. Could your 9-5 employer benefit from this? Would they consider...

    Mixing Business with Friends

    PEOPLE
Until you know what each individuals contribution will be and what that's worth to the business, this % nonsense is just that...nonsense. You don't have anything more than an idea at this stage. You don't even have a product/service or a business. Other more seasoned veterans here may disagree...

8 Eyewear: From Idea, to Launch, to Growth (And Quitting the Job)

    IDEA
Congrats on the epiphany @Vick! Glad to see I'm not alone on the simplification plan. That has always been my end goal; to create a lifestyle of freedom more so than wealth. People and experiences matter much more than 'things' to me. Not judging others mind you, just my personal views. I'm...

Biophase - Introducing My Ecommerce/Amazon Business Coaching Program

    MARKETPLACE
If I wasn't knee deep in two other businesses I'd be all over this @biophase. Look forward to hearing some presentations from this at the next Summit. I appreciate all you've done for forum members Kenric. Can't say this enough to you and other legendary contributors here. I'm now on a...

China + Asia in October? Canton Fair + Travel.

    MEETUPS
Stumbled upon another product that might be worth pursuing as a second venture. If so I'm considering going to Phase 3 (Oct 31- Nov 4). Flights from Toronto are dirt cheap right now on Hainan Air - $700 CAD round trip.

Laid off. Need a new temporary engineering job. How to use linkedin effectively?

Save your money and don't bother with the Premium membership. Sure you can 'InMail' people outside your network but it doesn't mean they'll reply. Best option, get your connection count over 500, get endorsements for your skills, but most importantly is to ask people to post a recommendation...

Create a start-up while employed? or focus resources on start-up?

    EXECUTION
What you read about other businesses doesn't matter. You need to do what's right for you and your situation. I have 4 kids and a mortgage. I can't just quit my 9-5 to focus on my business. You could be a bachelor living for free at home for all I know. So leaving a 9-5 wouldn't be as...

What would you put in a 1700 Sq foot space

I think you need to look at the demographics of the area first and of the clientele patroning the current businesses. We can all take guesses but a spot near a college could have these stores and favour different businesses over one near a hospital for instance. A laundromat and a vape shop...

Create a start-up while employed? or focus resources on start-up?

I think you need to read some of the Gold threads here, then reconsider asking this question. *cough* https://www.thefastlaneforum.com/community/threads/sorry-but-the-forum-cant-make-your-life-decisions-for-you.33485/ *cough*

What would you be looking for in a cleaning service?

    MARKETING
In case you weren't aware, there are a ton of people starting cleaning services after one guy documented his who process on Reddit. From that he founded a couple of companies that do all sorts of things Check out http://www.grooveliving.com/ they have a private Facebook group (Launch 27 if I...

I suspect people will still buy it regardless of price (within reason). But if you jack it up too high, or maybe even sell above your website price, it could look bad on the brand since your company is the one with the Amazon listing.

I'm also reading "Will it Fly" now. :) Before that I read "Originals: Now Nonconformists Move The World". Really interesting from an Ops perspective. It provided examples for how companies can encourage and balance diverse thoughts and opinions but avoid 'group think'. Sent from my Nexus 5...

Your Biggest Competitor Just Raised $60 Mil. What Do You Do?

You know, I see this a lot and frankly it really pisses me off. People want to give up on an idea just because someone beats them to the punch. Seriously? If that's your idea of tenacity, then pack it in now and go back to a 9-5. You've got to be smarter and work harder than that to achieve...

    MEETUPS
Prices are also all volume based. For anything under 100 that's custom you'll be paying a fortune for. Once you get over 500 you get better costs. Cardboard prices have also gone through the roof in recent years in Canada. $300-500 is typical for die fees on top of that as a setup fee but you...

Are you doing custom sized boxes? Or are these boxes rather big? We used to use custom boxes at my day job but I quickly switched staff over to off-the-shelf sizes from Uline and just had custom inserts made to give it some shock resistance. Saves us a ton of money.

The Corporate World Is So Shit

I'd never recommend quitting unless you have something else lined up. If you're going all-in on your start-up after this, why not wait for them to fire you instead? Who cares about recommendations? Ask another person to be a reference instead. I'm not sure about US laws, but in Canada firing...
