2016 Fastlane Summit, Official Event Thread

    MEETUPS
I still find it hard to believe that I'm finally going to the Summit. Will love to meet everyone, MJ's book and this forum has changed and shaped my life. I read the book around 6 years ago, I still remember laying in bed the first time I read it; I was a bit too young back then, but gave the...

Why Magento Enterprise solution? The community version does whatever you need, multi websites is already done, POS there are also already extensions for it, if you can't find exactly what you want, either have someone code it from scratch or buy an extension and modify it. What's the point of...

Strong first post on a business related forum... Every girl (and man) seems perfect, until you get to know them. No one is.

    Safe WiFi worldwide: how?

    WEB/DIGITAL
VPN with OpenVPN protocol In China it doesn't work, and they revamped their firewall, I couldn't find a decent VPN server because they all end up blocked. So I bought a VPS for 15$ a year and installed a simple PP2P VPN, less encryption but worked wonders in China. OpenVPN has some problems (I...

    Society's Failure

    FAILURE RANT
Because there are far more controllable things than everyone thinks. Saying and living like you are not in control is half way into taking what you can control for uncontrollable. Now let me go back to my medium wage job, because only the rich or lucky can get rich and I have no control over...

Am I getting scammed?! Alibaba (Overseas Importing Payment Options)

    NOTABLE! SOURCING
@Tehcasa you say you totally disagree but the you go on to agree on a majority of stuff :) I too use Alibaba and don't think there is other sourcing platform out there with the size and product display it has. @Walter Hay advices other platforms and explains why Alibaba isn't that good of a...

Am I getting scammed?! Alibaba (Overseas Importing Payment Options)

    NOTABLE! SOURCING
I don't know a single legit factory that accepts Paypal, the ones that do end up not doing it. One thing is selling 200 units of a 20$ item and having 2 or 3 scammers, another is having people claiming back thousands of dollars worth of product, or paypal just randomly freezing their funds...

Is this quote for shipping I was given too high?

Answered on your other thread. Also, ready @Walter Hay posts if you haven't. His threads are probably the best to ask this kind of questions, it's more polite than opening new topics for every other question :) Cheers

charged $37 'import tax' by French gov / DHL (+$68 shipping)

    RANT
I missed the import tax thing. Sorry. So 68$ is not that off, the regular DHL price for this should be around 30-40$ do France. This was given to me 3 years ago (should be cheaper now) : POL:China POD:potugal weight:1kg/34USD 2kg/45USD 3kg/54USD 4kg/63USD 5kg/72USD Express line:DHL Portugal is...

charged $37 'import tax' by French gov / DHL (+$68 shipping)

    RANT
LOL Friend... You paid 31%, which is probably just VAT, Duties and maybe some extra charge. I would be so happy if DHL only charged that here in Portugal. DHL, Fedex and any other express company here in Portugal charge 30 to 60€ just for the Customs Work. This means you order a 30€ item, 20€...

How Many 16 Year Olds Are Here?

    OFF-TOPIC
I overclocked my computer to run 14 instances of Diablo 3 with a bot to farm :D Did it for 2 or 3 weeks when it came out, before I was doing it on WoW. First actual money I made, around 500-700 USD, then all the accs got banned and went back to the beach :) First lesson on Control. Edit: I was...

How Many 16 Year Olds Are Here?

    OFF-TOPIC
I think I read TMF with 16, joined the forum 1 year later. Life changer. With 16 you are somehow limited to what you can do, but it's a major benefit to start shifting your mind then. Most people get to their 20's already completely brainwashed, in debt and ready for the 9 to 5 life. I don't...

Yes. Yes. Yes. The two main reasons I never ditched magento was: 1.Multi-Stores on the same backend easy as f*ck 2.I hate monthly plans, Shopify has monthly plans, heir add-ons have monthly plans, everything is made to suck your wallet. I'd rather pay 500$ upfront and have something custom...

I Failed at Importing Even Though It Makes $100k/mo

    HOT! SOURCING
Same situation. What should improve the situation: - Build similar/better products to expand product line (and this also improves Customer LTV), if possible, some kind of Recurring monthly service to go with it. Recurring revenue is worth times and times regular revenue. - Build a strong social...

@biophase Sorry if this has been asked already but most questions I'm seeing are all about products and importing. As a growing ecommerce business, going from a one man show to an actual business (either by actual hiring or freelancers/contractors), what would be your first hires? I'm facing...

Where to go in Asia for entrepreneurial immersion?

    MEETUPS
I think everyone has their tastes. I didn't like Bangkok (only spent 3 days there tho), but I come from Lisbon, where a room costs 250€, you can walk anywhere (or drive), clean air and nice sun almost all year. Coming and comparing to Hong-Kong or even Guangzhou, I didn't like the Bangkok caos...
