Go into debt for buying Magic cards, should I do it?

    HOT! MINDSET
What else can you do with 16k? (these are somewhat hyperbolic) You could buy 1600 domain names and start a domain name business. You could buy 1600 domain names and start 1600 websites (minus hosting fees of course). You could buy a car for 16k and try to flip that for 20k and still have...

Go into debt for buying Magic cards, should I do it?

    HOT! MINDSET
Got any Pogs? (actually, that one might doing well these days, haven't checked for a while). The post above this one is the best advice imo, quite like the idea of using this job lot to build a platform, but! Your margins still sound terrible. Think about it this way; if your buddy was to go...

Go into debt for buying Magic cards, should I do it?

    HOT! MINDSET
I think you should do it. It will teach you a valuable lesson one way or another, and you'll have to learn from it. When I was younger I got caught up in the beanie baby craze, and the pokemon cards thing, I'm not even going to tell you how that panned out, you can probably already guess...

    Movie "Drive"

    OFF-TOPIC
Sad to see this thread on the forum for me (on a personal level of course). I thought it was terrible, gear changes without actually changing gear? Unless it was a metaphor I lost, that's just bad screenplay surely? Nightcrawler was far better.

Got a copy of this, but haven't touched it yet. Will put it forward in my reading pile I think. Certainly sounds interesting (hence why I have a copy durr!).

    My First Published Book

    PUBLISHING
Your cover could have a lot more effort put into it, and can be made to look a lot better. The reverse doesn't really need to have your author picture on it, it's only a kids book. Reverse could look better too! The sales blurb sounds like you're talking down to the reader, not an average parent.

    What laptop have you got?

    OFF-TOPIC
I'm on an Acer with windows 10, the problem isn't windows 10, it's getting used to windows 10. Acer's are just being terrible for battery life, do you find that too? Sad to see a bad review of Asus for me, because that's one of my preferred options. Asus Vs Apple was the thought I had when...

Cool New Cover (I Think) - Please comment on what you think

Three votes for cover 3! Can't remember which font I used on that one, think it was the adam one you posted above, so thanks very much for that :D. That building one that looks really good too but is only free for personal use. Might have to invest in buying some fonts tbh, most of mine are...

Cool New Cover (I Think) - Please comment on what you think

Thanks very much @obrian Here's a tweek of the cover in the thread, followed by 3 other alterations for people to ponder. Hopefully you don't mind me putting these here @LynnD5000 ? The top one is the original with fonts changed, and made to follow the more red/grey color scale (inspired by...

Cool New Cover (I Think) - Please comment on what you think

These are nice! What have you been reading about typography? Any resources/books/whatever you could recommend? Fonts and Typography in general are one area I need to work on I think as far as design goes.

Cool New Cover (I Think) - Please comment on what you think

I've just noticed the change in title and sub-title.... I think the original was better. "The Reverse Business Plan System" kind of tells you a little something about what it is. Without reading it, I can't decide though. But the new title (and sub-title) sounds a little bit too "academic"...

I can see the argument, but if you save well whenever you can (without making yourself a boring pauper), the quicker you'll have enough "f you" money to be able to do whatever the hell you want. The fact one of the things that this person seems to enjoy doing is going to the club, gives you a...
