How does a CEO learn a new field fast?

    EXECUTION
How does a CEO learn a new field fast? I always wondered how CEOs can easily switch their field of business and become knowledgeable in a short period of time. For example, I used to work at a BIG aerospace firm, and we got a new CEO. First time I saw him, he admitted publicly that he had no...

A sample of my relationship e-book, tell me what you think?

    PUBLISHING
No, no, no, and NO! You fail to realize that "helping people" is one of the most difficult tasks. It's difficult to help friends you care about, let alone making money out of it. Again, I won't judge your ideas. I am pretty "traditional" in my views, and a Catholic churchgoer (shame on me! lol)...

I'm At Work Right Now, And I REALLY Want to Quit. Should I?

    HOT!
I am in a similar situation. Do NOT quit your job. It's a business decision: would you go from having a cash flow to ZERO cash flow in a second? That's not the way of doing it. And if you fail, there will be a big hole in your resume in case you want to find another job. Try to get another job...

    A pulp writer's tidal wave

    PUBLISHING
Brief Update and resource sharing. My second short story is at almost 5000 words now, I plan to finish it very very soon. I might go with an all-nighter this Friday. I am also planning my next story, a not-so-cozy mystery. If you’re interested in the genre, I picked up these resources at the...

I will not judge your book's point of view. It's yours, and it's your right to write about whatever message you're trying to convey as long as you believe in it. The above quoted sentence should be the beginning of your book. Do NOT start with your biography. The fact that you're Bosnian is of...

Using a credit card to fund my book?

    PUBLISHING
True, but JK Rowling didn't spend any money to write it (she was on welfare). It's amazing to think that Rowling's publisher told her to "find a day job as writing will never pay enough to survive"...

    When to take a break?

    MINDSET
If you feel that you need 24 hours to recharge and be more productive, just do it. One thing I am learning on this forum is that it's not a matter of how many hours you put in, but how effective you are in the hours you work on your projects. Which is why 9-5 is idiotic.

I found this article by the Harvard Business Review, titled "The Making of An Expert", about Talent vs. Hard Work. I thought some of you might find it interesting...

    Purely Unemployable

Sorry for the late reply, for some reason I saw the alert only now. I agree 100%. I still can see traces of the poisonous "I wish/hope" minsdet. It is difficult to get out of it, but I have to. And mind that today is one of those days in which I am so down that I would shoot myself. However, the...

Using a credit card to fund my book?

Don't. Go to a Public Library and use their services for free, all day long. That's how Bradbury wrote his amazing Farenheit 451 (in nine days, on public typewriters).

Quick update. My "test" ebook was downloaded more than I expected, however now that it's up for payment it has zero traffic, not even from Kindle Unlimited. I have to find a way to push the book into someone's hands. Total revenue is thus $0.00. I wished for at least a few cents! Next book is...

    MINDSET
That Popular Electronics worked as a muse for Bill Gates, it gave him inspiration. Now, I agree 100% that it wasn't "luck", but his readiness to act that allowed him to create his empire.

    "Fortune favours the brave"

    MINDSET
It depends on the definition of "lucky", in my opinion. What would've happened if the January 1975 edition of Popular Electronics did not fall in the hands of Bill Gates? Was he lucky to get that issue that started it all?

    GOLD!
Yes but tell it to HR departments and the industrial psychologists they refer to. No offense, but in 10+ year in the industry, I had to go through an exorbitant number of self-improvement/Performance Review forms and discussions. 99% are about "what you are" and "what do you want to gain" and in...

@Chase Bristow I used the word "worry" in a lose fashion, probably trying to provoke a little bit (please forgive me!). Do you think that nothing can be learned from studying missing opportunities? (I could've quote Xerox with their mouse and GUI, or when Intel tried to do a digital watch and so...
