LED Industry Growing at $10 Billion a year in USA Alone

    HOT!
I'll have to finally chime in here because there is 1 aspect of this that bothers/concerns me. This is exactly my issue. Our gov has created laws banning the incandescent bulb, 1 step at a time. Just look it up. The gov should not be picking the winners & losers in this market, or any other...

How does Britain possibly leaving the EU effect the world?

    OFF-TOPIC
It's challenging to predict the outcome of changes like this. People are irrational and governing bodies are made up of people. Short term consequences often gain headlines while long term effects are almost never noticed. Living in the US, I must admit that I don't have any first hand...

Whats the best way to exit a slow lane business?

I'm sure we all wish we had this problem. However, I can understand the dilemma. If the business fails the commandments of Time & Scale, then you need to re-evaluate the model if you want to be free. I'm certain you've given it some thought, but perhaps the brain trust here might help you find a...

I understand that you want to keep the identity of your business and what service you provide, under wraps. I don't blame you a bit. I haven't revealed my product or business name either. If you can't tell us how you got access to that $20k-$50k equipment, and can't give us any tips on how to...

Who quit a good-paying Slowlane job and is now a Fastlaner?

    NOTABLE! SLOWLANE EXECUTION
I don't know if my story qualifies for this thread, but I'll share it and see what the feedback might say. Once upon a time, I had a job that I really enjoyed. I did interesting work with interesting technology, working at a place that was actually pleasant to work at. I wasn't paid all that...

That's no surprise to me. Happens to the best of us...and me too. It's happened so many times that I've come up with my own rule of thumb regarding INITIAL ESTIMATES of project duration and/or cost: "It will always cost twice as much and take twice as long as initial estimates." When a customer...

    Imminent Threat Survival

    NOTABLE!
I've read previously about the value of a good tactical light in various quarters, and it makes sense. Last year I purchased law enforcement grade tactical lights for myself and several of the women in my life. Remember, they can be taken on planes and in schools, where other items are forbidden!!!

General Business Framework for Noobs questions...help!

You are correct, especially in the context of this forum and the content of the book. I can appreciate the shift in focus from the idea in one's mind to the need in the marketplace. On the other hand, do businesses/corporations/governments actually exist? In each of these examples, isn't it...

General Business Framework for Noobs questions...help!

Wow there is some mighty good advice being posted in this forum, and might quick too I might add. +1 Interesting. Do businesses exist? Not exactly on topic, but a fun question nonetheless. Back to topic: The idea is that people "solve problems" and/or "provide products" for people to consume...

Welcome to the forum @Bytesunfish. There are a couple other physical products guys here as well. Manufacturing in California has been in decline for years. Hit the quarter life crisis - need advice

    MINDSET RANT
OP, I'd second this advice...except for the passionate aspect. If you've found a CENTS need and it's not something that you're passionate about, do it anyway. Your passion can be about achieving the lifestyle you want and not necessarily about the need you're filling! If you're lucky enough to...

Trying to decide between Partnership vs Contractor

    PEOPLE
Before you take on a partner please read this GOLD thread. https://www.thefastlaneforum.com/co...-but-am-happier-and-stronger-than-ever.62925/ My suggestion would be to take the opportunity/contract and subcontract the SEO work to your friend. Taking a loan for my business

    PEOPLE
Have you considered bootstrapping the project? It's not as fast and it's not sexy, but it's much less risky. The downside is that you have to pace yourself and grow slowly, building on sales & profits...but maybe that isn't a downside at all!
