Not a team player, am I doomed? (Do introverts have it harder?)

    PEOPLE
I've had this discussion with colleagues a time or two. Our consensus is that extroverts are more highly valued in society for their obvious people skills, and tend to climb the ladder of success more easily than introverts. That being said, there are areas where introverts do better than...

    Outsourcing your Prototyping

    SOURCING
In my work/job experience, I've sent 3D models under a variety of circumstances. If the recipient is likely to become, or could become, a competitor then my 3D models are incomplete. The magic sauce is left out so that they cannot gain access to my core competency. That includes customers that...

Anyone read "How I Found Freedom in an Unfree World"?

Never read it, but a quick google search suggests it might be interesting. I'm putting it on my list of books to search out at the local library.

    Keep the read

Yes, do that, great idea. Start at the end and go backwards, word for word! JK, of course. I start at pg 1 and read until I reach the back cover. :smuggy: Works for me.

    Introduction - MetalGear

    INTRO
I haven't put my life on hold while starting, but that may be why it's taking me longer than others to get rolling. I'm ok with that. It may also be my choice of vehicles, as I'm in physical products, invention & innovation. Either way, I agree with @Duane that I need balance in my life. As a...

Companies are entities, and hide behind human resources. They have no soul.

    EXECUTION
I appreciate this thread, and I understand the sentiment. I wonder sometimes...do companies really exist at all. Or do they exist only on paper? I've seen buildings, products, people, people performing services and people making decisions. Are companies actually non-entities and people are...

    Trying Times (Trying VS Doing)

    MINDSET
This is just the reminder I needed this morning, to keep my focus on my new identity and not the new problems. Thank you.

This is great. Well put. The change in perspective can truly be transformative, in so many ways. Ideas, plans, attitude, hope, etc.

    How do you inspire creativity?

    MINDSET
Creativity can be hard to inspire, or "force". Creatives in my industry tend to intentionally shift focus to something completely different for a period of time. This allows the mind to process the issue/question and then you can come back to it with renewed perspective. @Michael Burgess gave...

You Are About To See an EPIC Industry Change

    HOT!
I think this is a big hurdle. Shops of all stripes live by such thin margins that the up-sells really help.

Hey @OddJack any progress on your project? Do you have an MVP, or have you located any manufacturers?

@Richie Rich , I'm sorry I didn't see this and respond earlier. You have my sympathies, and my respect. You're dealing with some nasty health issues and still keeping a positive attitude. Kudos to you! Best wishes to you in your recovery, and hopefully no re-occurrences!

    Sears & Macys closing stores....

Have you done actual price comparison between the stores, or has their marketing/branding convinced you that 1 is cheaper than the other?

Take your location independent business offshore - GlobalWealth

    MARKETPLACE
@GlobalWealth thank you for the info, I got the report and find it interesting. Especially the last example. Are there any other sections/segments of a B&M that could be setup offshore? In particular, for a small manufacturing business with a B&M location and eventually a handful of employees?

    Sears & Macys closing stores....

    OFF-TOPIC
I doubt B&M will disappear entirely, more likely those with debt/weaknesses are being weeded out of the market. Consider Walmart...does that B&M look like it's going away any time soon? I think the biggest weakness of Sears & Kmart are their brand images. I suspect that today's young consumers...
