Starting my own Game Development Studio

    HOT! EXECUTION
Update (9/22/21) I've been slacking as of late. My willpower to work on this project AFTER working an 8+ hour day stalled for a bit. I just had an FTE-reminder. A coworker tried to throw my team under the bus (and failed). Tired of that crap. I have been re-energized and continued working...

Have you had your "FTE"? (Or Was it an FTM?!)

    GOLD! MINDSET FTE CHAT
I had my FTE after years of being a contract worker in the software industry and teased with being brought onboard as a permanent full-time worker for years. The last was at an American office of a Japanese owned software company and if I said the name you'd probably say "oh wow". My boss...

I've Read The Great Rat-Race Escape!

    GOLD! HOT!
Finished it last week. Unscripted 2 TGRRE was excellent and the Jeff and Samantha story helped nail down concepts from the other books. I don't think you can explain the Fastlane ideology any better. You gave people a very basic process and framework (not a list) through fiction to work from...

    HOT! EXECUTION
Update (8/14/21) Big pivot. I had an idea for a smaller game while I was making dinner the other day. This project is small in scope and something that requires less art, design and code. I'll still keep all my work on the other project in my Github repository. This will allow me to...

    HOT! EXECUTION
I hope the game is worth playing. I work in the industry (will be 20 years in Aug) and I know some people who may provide guidance.

Take Your Computer Security Seriously! YOU Are At Risk!

    GOLD!
I'll have to disagree with that and I've worked in tech for large companies 20 years. It really depends on what software you're using.

BTW. If you're on Windows 10 now, make sure you update. The update is ready as of 7/9 if it didn't auto prompt you on taskbar. Type in "Windows Update" next to start button and click it. Check for updates. https://www.cnn.com/2021/07/08/tech/microsoft-windows-10-printnightmare/index.html

If you're a one man show like me the best way to do it is to develop a small title. Create or mimic a core loop that's fun and build it piece by piece. I recommend creating a Trello or Kanban board. That's what I'm doing.

I have early intermediate knowledge on getting a game running in Unity and programming skill. The problem I'm facing now is the art content itself. I can create the assets but they look terrible and I've been practicing awhile to get better at 2D pixel art. My character design is trash...

My apologies for getting offended in prior posts. It's been 6 months and my perspective changed a bit. I didn't ignore your suggestion and I decided to stay in 2D. You were right. I'm finishing up a practice project within the month and then I'll be working on a game idea that I'll attempt to...

I never told anyone to piss off. The thread is mostly of people telling me what NOT to do. I figure I'll do what I want and there's nothing wrong with that, right? We're all going to be okay. Like I said earlier, I'll be posting here much less.

The purpose of comments can differ from individuals. I use them like bookmarks at times and others not. One engineer says if your code is written well, you won't need comments. Others say the opposite and I know quite a few game engineers in games. One specifically told me the amount I have...

You assume the game industry his comprised of only positions that make commits to a repository which are later compiled into builds. Forgetting everything from producers, associate producers, office managers, qa managers and more. None of those actively write lines of code, write engines...
