    Hiring a good programmer

    WEB/DIGITAL
Is disposing of a project actually a standard thing on contract? Obviously bar them from creating a competitor for 'x' number of years, but I wasn't aware people actually disposed (or say they do) of their source... ------ Joe, I may be interested depending on what the project entails...

'Success' is such a subjective word. If her goal was to make music people like - is she a success? In terms of the majority I don't think she is a 'success'. What if she wanted something only 1 person liked? Then yes she is. If her goal was to make money from this - is she a success...

    Question for web designers

    WEB/DIGITAL
Well, any page you want to add the php include to will need to change for html to php. Which is as simple as changing the file ending (nothing else needs to change). Then simply add that line to include whatever the file name is that you want to include. Yeah Ignore that. I'm tired and...

    Question for web designers

    WEB/DIGITAL
Not possible. You'd need to use a languge, like PHP (Python, ASP.NET, or RoR would work too) in order to include outside files. So for example you could create 'navigation.php' like: <div id="navigaiton"> <a href="/link">Link 1</a> <a href="/link2">Link 2</a> <a...

    This forum shouldn't be free

    HOT!
Imo, it's because by taking the forum how it currently is, and charging poses no sort of benefit. The interactions are the valuable point, and charging only puts up a barrier for what you're charging for. Edit: Chris poses an interesting idea with a 'full access type' idea. What if you do...

A New Englander Looking for a New Way

I'd say making peoples lives "better" is something to be passionate about. Saving them time, entertaining them, making things easier, whatever you want. The way you make peoples lives better is less important than the act of making someones life better. And of course, the act of making...

What's Your Take on This? Heart Attack Grille!

    HOT! MINDSET
That was a hard read. The writer is so biased that it's just irritating Yes, I agree that their image of a 'healthy' chain is horrible when compared to the reality, but it's just so arrogantly written. For example the last bit about a person ordering a vegetarian sub, and claiming that they...

How is this created on Facebook??

    WEB/DIGITAL
To be fair, if that's what they're doing (idk) it's also very easy to also bluff what they think they are liking. Atleast I hope that's what they are do, and all these people aren't creeping on Miley. haha

    HOT! MINDSET
It's sad that admitting the obvious gains someone respect. I don't mean this offensively to you, honestly it intrigues me too when a business isn't trying to put on a "we are perfect" image. Like, we've become so used to just businesses lying (and it's not like we're stupid and don't know...

    Website creation software.

    WEB/DIGITAL
Very true - to be honest that really resonates with me. I'm more of a programmer than a business man. Which I definitely need to work on. I mean this is a sense of a being a lot more passionate about creating 'perfect' (whatever that may be haha) architecture for the system rather than...

You should give Notepad++ a go. Easy to configure styles (I personally don't like white backgrounds), and also syntax highlighting unlike Notepad. Tons more is possible, but past that it's all 'sugar' on top. Granted I like that sugar. :D Drag, and drop like the application you mentioned...

    Website creation software.

    WEB/DIGITAL
'better' completely depends on the task at hand. Generally though D&D applications are a lot more limited than actually learning html\css\javascript. Just a side note, XML is a data markup language, and won't be something you need to know for layout\design of a website. Really, don't get...

Because there is nothing wrong with doing something, and failing. Assuming you give your best, and don't make excuses. You are not less of a person if you don't reach your ultimate goal. Regardless, you're almost certainly a better person just go trying to go that extra mile. People like...

Money might not be invested but time is (time is more valuable), and you need to invest a lot of time, especially for something like this to take off. Blog revenue definitely does work for a very small percent of the internet, but remember there are a lot more which it don't. There are...

Figure out what you want to make, and make it. Now, for the beginning figure out sites to make without dynamic content so you'll only need to learn html, css, and javascript. You will look back on what you've made from even a week in the past and not believe you made it so poorly. I've been...
