Nutrition Coaching. Not a Fast Lane Idea (Yet) but It's a Start.

    IDEA
I don't mean to pile on the dead horse with a Louisville slugger, but it's worth boosting the advice here: unless you've got a really compelling niche of a niche to target AND a really compelling USP to lure people in, I would strongly advise you to apply your talents elsewhere. Nutrition...

Lex DeVille's: Guru Cults Exposed: The Tactics "Experts" Use To Pull You In & Suck You Dry

I'm appreciative of this thread for the great posts in it, some from @SinisterLex and some from the local Illuminatus.

    Writing my first book

    PUBLISHING
You might do well to look into picking a email provider sooner than later. You'll want the automation once you get any kind of traffic. There's a ton of these out there though MailCheat(Chimp) is usually the go-to suggestion for the beginner. They have a pretty generous free plan and reasonable paid...

Lex DeVille's: Guru Cults Exposed: The Tactics "Experts" Use To Pull You In & Suck You Dry

    GOLD! MARKETING
You're probably right about having some resistance to these guru-triggers, but it's worth drilling a little deeper into this belief. We can pull out two common mistakes about persuasion: 1. The guru is an all-powerful warlock. He weaves a spell and can make anyone believe anything, do...

What do you drink besides coffee?

    HEALTH
I do something similar to the Tim Ferriss recipe @NickB mentioned, but adding Yerba Mate to the teas. (I don't add fat or oil to it.) Green tea + yerba mate also go well together without the pu-erh. Yerba has some cool xanthines in it that I'm sure the wikipedia article will cover in some...

Lex DeVille's: Guru Cults Exposed: The Tactics "Experts" Use To Pull You In & Suck You Dry

    GOLD! MARKETING
About 11 or 12 years ago, I had a burgeoning online business. When I looked around to see what was going on with peers and competitors, I kept running into these aggressive sales letters and the ugly web pages that all looked the same. All used the same prefab testimonials. All had the red...

Achieve Laser FOCUS + PRODUCTIVITY With The System Legendary Fastlaners Use...

    GOLD!
Hi Eric, thanks for checking in. I've found myself using Zenkit exclusively over the last few weeks. I'm still no power user, but I do find that the UI and aesthetic, and some of the extra options for viewing the card data, are useful enough to keep me using it. I still haven't found any use...

What I've been doing lately is using the Kanban board in combination with a written to-do list that blocks out the whole work day. The kanban board works as the master task-planner, the high level view where I can get a feel for the "shape" of the major goals and projects. The daily plan...

The Worth of a Good Guy is...

    MINDSET
This is a fascinating comment, and I expect we'll find more people who agree with it. Here's a question to get some wheels turning. What part of "being a good guy" means "willing to be taken advantage of"?

Ever wonder how people end up in dead end jobs at 40?

    GOLD!
Thanks for bumping this thread. Truly chilling story @Vigilante It's nice to have these little reminders come along now and again, even if they are a lump of hot sulphur in your throat. Remembering why we're here, and the fate we're (hopefully) fortunate enough to escape, makes for some...

I'm using it at the moment as a Trello stand-in. Things like board templates and importing from Trello are nice. The free plan allows for up to five team members, which is one of the more generous plans I've seen. It also has an option to switch between different views on each board, so you...

This looks nice. I just finished up trials with Favro and Breeze (which @eliquid recommended upthread). I liked both of them. Favro's basic 5-user plan is a little much for me to justify as a one-man outfit given Trello's free option and Breeze's single-user option. I never could get their...

Does Wordpress violate the Control commandment?

I'm not sure I'm understanding you right. Do you mean being hosted on wordpress.com (where your blog is thisblogsname.wordpress.com)? Or are you talking about using the self-hosted WP software in general? It's good practice not to build a website you want to do anything "serious" with on...

I emailed 40 local organisations asking what their problems and frustrations are

    NOTABLE! MARKETING
Good for you for doing something, at least. But I agree with the sentiment here -- your pitch seems weird and uninviting. Your first line alone says "this is all about me" I want to be an entrepreneur. The whole pitch is "me" this, "me" that. On top of that, you're asking a business owner...

Can a fast-lane business be started on WordPress?

    NOTABLE!
It's worth looking into getting an SSL certificate in any case. Besides being a major bonus for security on the site, for anything requiring logins or dealing with payments where you don't want to be dealing with unencrypted traffic, Google seems to add some boost in rankings for sites served...

What has helped your seasonal depression SAD?INDOOR TANNING???

    HEALTH
I'll add another recommendation for 5000+ IU doses of Vitamin D along with 6-12g of fish oil. I spent years fighting seasonal depression (hell, depression any time of the year) before I clued in that I always felt better when I had these two on my daily intake list. I didn't find out until...

I got in on some ETH yesterday evening, thinking that the dip was near the bottom. Boy was I wrong! But here's hoping that was just a slight mis-timing. Besides Ripple and VEN, does anyone have any interesting alts to look at?

How I Use HIIT Sprints To BURN Stupid Amounts Of Fat Quickly...

    HEALTH
When I was younger I used to run in your standard sneakers, on treadmills or on the rare occassion when I ran outside, on pavement. As several others have mentioned, this, in combination with being too heavy and injuries from other activities, made running unsustainable. Two things have...

Take Your Computer Security Seriously! YOU Are At Risk!

    GOLD!
That recommendation is very similar to Diceware, though there's less randomness if you just choose a pass-phrase from words you like or think you will remember. Diceware passphrases are pretty hard to beat if you follow the recommendations. Even if the attacker knows what you're using and...

Ask Me Anything About SaaS ( I'm building my 7th )

    GOLD! HOT! SAAS / APPS
Awesome thread. Could you expand on this? I know that deep learning is the new hotness these days. Besides a little tinkering in TensorFlow's Python libraries, I've got no real idea what's going on in this space. (And that was enough to let me know real quick that I was out of my league in...
