Is opening a Coffee Shop a good idea ?

    HOT! IDEA
3 months has passed. How has opening this thread helped you in your thought process? Did you break it down into steps that you could validate e.g. sitting outside an existing coffee store and counting the number of daily customers to estimate revenue? Testing your assumptions on what makes a...

Ask Me Anything About SaaS ( I'm building my 7th )

    GOLD! HOT! SAAS / APPS
Hi @eliquid Thanks for the AMA. I have (a subset of related) questions on feature creep. How do you handle your backlog of new features / requests ? (e.g. how do you decide what to build when) How do you detail out your features? Do you write user stories?

Ask Me Anything About SaaS ( I'm building my 7th )

    GOLD! HOT! SAAS / APPS
You can segment people based on the actions they take e.g. the pages they view on your website or the links they click in your emails. For example, you could include 3 pieces of content in your first onboarding email. #1 would be the best resource for a CEO, #2 resource for owner, #3 for a...

Anyone have advice on design options

Use upwork to source quality workers. If they're good, add them on Skype. If not, look for a new one. That way you will build up a base of quality freelancers over the years. Whenever I have a need (e.g. design/code/whatever) I can just open Skype and message numerous freelancers instantly.

Listen. And Significantly Grow Your Business.

Another airplane story: On a flight from london->nairobi, I was fully immersed in 'business adventures' by john brooks. I caught the guy sitting next to me looking at the cover of the book. He finally asked me: "What is the book like?" "Very good", I replied. He let me know that he was...

Listen. And Significantly Grow Your Business.

I was sitting in a plane from london->miami during my soul-destroying management consultant days. A woman asked me if I would mind switching with her son who was sitting all the way at the back of the plane. I didn't mind as I was going to spend the next 10h buried in my laptop, powerpoint to...

SAAS Product Creation - Successes and Failures

    SAAS / APPS EXECUTION
Going by the fact that your paid fee is super cheap, I would get rid off the free trials for now. One paying customer will give you so much more valuable info than XX trials. The paying customer has skin in the game. Follow-up with that customer, understand their pain points (forget about your...

SAAS Product Creation - Successes and Failures

    SAAS / APPS EXECUTION
Great work on your progress martin. It's a constant battle to stop yourself wanting to add more features. Out of my own experience, I've found that providing your product for free won't always give you the best possible feedback. Because you're not charging anything for it, people will always be...

CENTS, SaaS, and a $10 million exit in 3 to 5 years

    SAAS / APPS EXECUTION
I sent this in a private message but think more people could (and should!) benefit from this. There is a great resource for SaaS startup: www.startupsecrets.com Michael Skok, a veteran venture capitalist, outlines the biggest obstacles that you will face on your journey.

Step by step on how to not find clients.

    RANT
So figure out why people/companies that don't have a website, should buy one. What is the value proposition? Are you offering new business (leads) ? Brand awareness? Local presence? Angle your offer based on the value prop e.g. New business leads => offer to setup a website for them and help...

Step by step on how to not find clients.

    RANT
I have said this many, many, many times before on this forum: Nobody buys websites. Websites are commodities. As are development skills. People are looking for value. If you can show them how to get that value, you have a product/service that is worth selling. The website looks clean...

What to Google for? Construction crew B2C business

You don't generate income with an idea. If you're looking for advice or constructive feedback, you should -at the very least- take some time to formulate what you're looking to do, how you're looking to go about it and what the value proposition is. Just creating a post with this is pure laziness.

    Going for it. Ecommerce.

    NOTABLE!
Change your mindset. You're going to work to make money to fund your long term future. There is nothing wrong with doing a sh*t job as long as you're progressing towards your goals. By cutting off your cashflow, you run the risk of stifling your business growth early on.

Learn how to make a full-time income with affiliate marketing using SEO

    MARKETING
Hi Greg, I had a glance at your offer and I'm always a bit sceptical when I see people offering to teach other people how to make money online. Few questions: On your IMSource website you reference your income statements. Looking at the list of products that are mentioned there, it seems to...

    My business idea: your thoughts?

    IDEA
The most important thing about starting a business is execution. You've provided a general outline of an idea; no more, no less. Taking 1 percent of a big market isn't justification of the potential of an idea. Some top-of-mind questions: - Do older women (aged 45-60) actually grow marijuana...

    MARKETING
Ok. So with the limited amount of information, I would do this: - Google analytics: basic view on traffic / totals - Google search console: 404s, position/CTR for all keywords - Google keyword planner: get insights on what keywords you should be aiming for - Google trends: same as above -...

    MARKETING
OK. I have a strong preference for MOZ to track SEO results. You can set-up keywords to track, and keep an eye of your positions etc. You will also be able to do in-depth analysis on your competition through MOZ (site explorer). It will give you a view as to what their authority is like, where...

    MARKETING
As with all metrics, it depends on what you're going to do with them. If you're looking for basic insights, you will be able to get away with using google analytics, google search console and a free account at MOZ. How are you planning on using the metrics? Are you just looking to get an...
