Quote of the Day - QOTD

    HOT! MINDSET
This comes from the blog post "My New Years Wish" by Neil Gaiman. "I hope that in this year to come, you make mistakes. Because if you are making mistakes, then you are making new things, trying new things, learning, living, pushing yourself, changing yourself, changing your world. You're...

Slowlane Decision to Make, Your Thoughts?

    SLOWLANE
Update: I had a pre-screen interview with the recruiter yesterday. I found out that the job requirements may be changing in terms of which office will be the home office and what the travel schedule will look like, but there were no details provided. The hiring manager is currently on vacation...

    The Basics of Pricing

    NOTABLE! MARKETING
A lot of times, it's about making it easy for the customer. As a customer, I find it frustrating if I have to break out my calculator to figure out the single price to validate whether I'm getting a deal. If it's not easy math, I move on rather quickly. If you really want the customer to jump at...

    The Basics of Pricing

    NOTABLE! MARKETING
Yes, often they negotiate a deal without revealing pricing strategy. They will just say "I have a Front Page deal planned. I am projecting X thousand units and I NEED a cost of $X and to make it worth it." It can be a good negotiating tool for vendors as well though. You can base the deal on a...

Just watched the video. Best 22 minutes I've spent today, excluding cuddle time with my youngest of course. Thanks @Fox for doing this.

    The Basics of Pricing

    NOTABLE! MARKETING
I work directly with category managers for a large grocery retailer and I can tell you that the tag is very effective at driving sales. A lot of times we don't even change the price, we just feature it in the flyer and give it a special tag. Offering deeper discounts will move more units but...

Thanks to you all for your replies. I really appreciate it. You've all helped uncover some of my blind spots. I will provide an update on this sometime next week if/when I have an interview.

Slowlane Decision to Make, Your Thoughts?

    SLOWLANE
Yes, absolutely. It's my primary motivation behind all of my big decisions. Thanks for this. It's a reminder to stay focused on my priorities.

But, this will NEVER happen to me...LOL. Thanks for the reminder. It can be very hard to look past this. I have formally applied, mostly to get some more details, but I am leaning strongly on not accepting if offered. As I was reading through the responses it occurred to me that I don't...

Not true. Your below comment is valid. I've behaved in a similar fashion in the past when I worked in the road. It's not unrealistic to think it could happen again. All it takes is a couple of pints with dinner and my night is shot.

I carpool 3 days a week, so for the 2 days I'm not driving, I try and grab the back seat so I can read or do research undisturbed.

It was in the pros list. I have enough equity built up in my current house to put down at least 75% down payment on a similar home and potentially 100%. I could likely be 100% debt free in 2 - 3 years.

I agree, it's a bit of a sideways move, though if we decide to move, I could cut a huge amount of debt off my plate.

Slowlane Decision to Make, Your Thoughts?

    SLOWLANE
First off, I was reluctant to post this because: a) It is rooted in the Slowlane b) I don’t want it to be yet another “What should I do?” thread c) I know it is a decision no one can make for me. I chose to post it because I'm looking for impartial feedback and I respect the opinions of this...

Best new car research website! (How NOT to ask/take advice)

    NOTABLE!
I think the most important lesson that I have learned since reading TMF and joining this forum is "ADD VALUE"!! This thread is riddled with value added feedback and you have given ZERO back. You have 45 posts in total, ALL in this thread. If you wish to stick around, I recommend that you do not...
