    What you Need Vs. Want

    MINDSET
You are right. The more one zooms out, the more positive sides to even traumatic events one might find - even if it's mostly positive for others - like in that children's book example.

    Money AND/OR Power

    MINDSET
I just posted a video by Gabor Maté to the Mental Health, Depression, ADD Discussion Thread: This video is mainly about addiction, that's why I put it into that thread. But towards the end Gabor Maté also talks about addiction to power, and this made me think about something. Oftentimes in...

    What you Need Vs. Want

    MINDSET
Thinking about a path is something I get on board with :) I also would probably not be where and who I am today without all my shitty experiences. So yeah, except for some really traumatic experiences, that have no positive side to it at all, I'm a big fan of viewing ones experiences in this...

    What you Need Vs. Want

    MINDSET
I appreciate the positivity of your post! Though I wanted to add that some things in life are just shit, some things will not give you a lesson learned, even afterwards, but simply be shit and painful. And that's okay as well. If you can learn something from a bad experience, great! But if you...

Depression is something on the inside, success is something on the outside. Think about it like this, if you are depressed about not being successful, then yeah, being successful will probably fix that. But if you are depressed because a part of you feels like you are totally worthless no matter...

How to Protect Yourself from Fraud

    OFF-TOPIC
Ransomware Attacks This will be a rather short post, as I do not have direct experience with this type of attack. I do however have a friend who works for a company that does something with servers for other companies. He has some experience with these attacks. As ransomware attacks can be...

Yep. Also doing martial arts and self-defense and one of the key lessons they teach us is to avoid fights at all costs. No matter how well trained or skilled you are, one wrong hit and it might be over for you. Only fight when there’s no other option. And if you have to, protect your head at all...

Why Do So Many Fall For Fascism?

    OFF-TOPIC
This to me is another case of black and white thinking. There‘s either fascism or communism. But there‘s a lot more in between. So you happen to see people throw fascism around but in the same breath throw the word communism around. Like @Fox said, most of us never lived in true fascism, the...

Why Do So Many Fall For Fascism?

    OFF-TOPIC
That‘s true. But many of our great-grandparents here in Germany have. My grandmother had to flee as a young girl. And if those people say that what currently happens here reminds them of how it started back then, then I listen. Yep, remember seeing that movie at the cinema as a school...

Why Do So Many Fall For Fascism?

    OFF-TOPIC
Absolutely agree. Like many other words - including fascism - Nazi is one that some people love to freely throw around to try to attack others who they don‘t agree with. If someone doesn‘t see one „kind“ of people as superior than others, they are most likely not a Nazi. Btw the word Nazi is a...

Why Do So Many Fall For Fascism?

    OFF-TOPIC
To be fair, US media is known to be … problematic at best and outright horrible at worst. I mean there are news stations that are pro one of the political parties, to most other countries this is absolutely absurd. News have to be neutral, at least on political topics as long as we are not...

Why Do So Many Fall For Fascism?

    OFF-TOPIC
I recently talked with a co worker of mine about something that worried me lately: why do so many people, in so many countries around the world, over the last years started to root for people who have heavy fascist tendencies? Whose speeches remember you of Hitlers speeches? And do so many not...

Problem is the big amount of parents who do not care about learning the things that would make them good parents. I‘d guess that most people on here love to learn things, to read, watch and listen to things that help them become better, so for those of us who are/become parents, we‘d probably...

    Killing Cable Television

    OFF-TOPIC
Here in Germany we have standard TV over cable or satellite, and recently by using some third party service or the apps of TV channels, over the internet as well. TV here is basically free, but financed by ads, except for the some channels that every household has to pay a fee of around $60...

What has Elon done to bring Anonymous up against him? Usually a fan of what Anonymous have done years ago, as they have fought a lot for great things, one of them was keeping internet free from censorship, but haven‘t heard much from them recently.
