Teaching Developers to Build Full Applications and Help Entrepreneurs

    EXECUTION
Yes, I don't doubt that for a moment. I worked behind the scenes with another that was producing courses, so I got a first-hand look at what's involved. I'll update this thread later with my plans to validate before creating a large course.

Teaching Developers to Build Full Applications and Help Entrepreneurs

    EXECUTION
Thanks @Bugs Bunny. That's a good idea, though I'm more interested in validating through some other channels like Twitter, Medium, etc. I will keep the in-person workshop idea in my back pocket, though. Front End Masters does that, and it seems to work very well.

Most definitely. And just think -- the example you set now will save them from the same dissatisfaction when they're older.

Dad tired of working to hard

    INTRO
Welcome! I've got 3 growing boys myself, so I completely understand your frustrations. You're obviously no stranger to hard work, so as long as you work smart, you'll do well.

Find Trustworthy Developers to Build Your MVP Without Risking Money $$

Correct. The only way to really learn is to go through the process. But you don't have to go through it as a developer. Successful projects include people of many diverse backgrounds. As for miscommunications... experienced professionals suffer miscommunications all the time; it's how we all...

Find Trustworthy Developers to Build Your MVP Without Risking Money $$

Thank you, @ApparentHorizon -- this is exactly how I hope other developers will react. I'm working on an article that really highlights my driving motive for this, from a devs perspective. I'll be sure to share it in my progress thread. I'd be interested to know if it rings familiar with you, too.

Find Trustworthy Developers to Build Your MVP Without Risking Money $$

@Ayanle Farah -- of course, no offence taken. This obviously won't be for everyone. If you can code an MVP in 2 months, more power to you! As for your question: I worked very successfully with many types of people that did not have coding experience, so I would not say coding experience is...

Teaching Developers to Build Full Applications and Help Entrepreneurs

    EXECUTION
After noticing many people struggle with getting an online application created, I started this thread: Find Trustworthy Developers to Build Your MVP Without Risking Money $$ The idea: have less-experienced developers gain experience by creating MVPs for cash-poor entrepreneurs. Things have...

New Freelancers: Here's how to start a personal website to market yourself.

    SIDE HUSTLE
Absolutely. Are you familiar with WordPress, at all? If not, I'm happy to explain important aspects of the WordPress admin -- which can be overwhelming, for sure. You can start on STEP 3 here: How to Start a WordPress Blog The RIGHT WAY (Step by Step) Have you chosen a theme, yet? If you'd...

Software Developer Roundtable: Share your tips, tools and strategies

    HOT!
Great book and great advice. I found our team did best when we iterated on really small testable chunks which were captured in user stories. Every week I was able to deliver something testable and meaningful to the direction of the project. This saved us so much headache.

Software Developer Roundtable: Share your tips, tools and strategies

    HOT!
@Jelledb sounds like you have a lot of great experience already! My impression has been that many CS students don't necessarily get experience from school, so taking it upon yourself to build stuff is important. It would be great if you start a progress thread on what you're learning in...

Software Developer Roundtable: Share your tips, tools and strategies

    HOT!
Hmm that's something I've never seen before. I work with Vue.js so I like the Vue CLI tool to start projects. It saves me from noodling with Webpack. I had to do a lot of Webpack stuff before and I'd rather not sink so much time into tooling. I'd rather be building things.

Thanks @Scot I appreciate the encouragement. I already have one app I'm planning a course around. It's full steam ahead!

Find Trustworthy Developers to Build Your MVP Without Risking Money $$

Do you have an idea for an application? Problem: you don't know how to code, and neither do you have thousands of dollars to hire a developer. Even if you DID have the money to hire a developer, you don't know how to find one that is trustworthy. The risk of losing all your money is real...

Automated: A guide to AWS and the possibilities of scalability (Code and Software Architecture)

Thanks for posting this. I look forward to learning a lot more here. Currently I used Digital Ocean, but I've been considering AWS for even my smaller projects just so I can build up more familiarity with it. edit: @WealthChaser - while you go through this, I'd be interested to see you...

Journey of the German - Building a web design agency

    EXECUTION
If clients are responding well to it, that's cool. Do you find you're catching problems early enough with just an image, though? Much of my revisions were concerning interacting with the site -- something that is obviously better captured in a working version. I suppose it would depend on...
