Very specific wordpress.org / Hostgator problem - Help!

    WEB/DIGITAL
According to this line: "optimizemember_file_download = file, relative to the /optimizeMember-files/ directory. In other words, just the file name." you should just need to replace the file with the file name, not the full path so for instance if under...

Very specific wordpress.org / Hostgator problem - Help!

    WEB/DIGITAL
Are you saying that you have uploaded the files to hostgator but can't get them to the correct folder because you can't navigate to the folder you uploaded them to in cPanel? If this is the case you can ssh into hostgator and move the files that way. You will be able to see your entire...

Progress Thread - Making Money From Paid Traffic

@eliquid thanks for your reply and helpful information. I am showing ads in the feed for desktop & mobile. This is very useful information to know what kind of numbers I can expect based on CTR. It seems that I should focus on improving my ads. I guess now that I think about it this seems...

Thanks @Andy Black for that video. Actually watched it before but just gave it a run through again. Great explanation. I'm going to share with some friends.

Progress Thread - Making Money From Paid Traffic

@theag thanks for your reply. Right now my potential reach is 370K, I use targeting options age + gender + country and I also narrowed the focus by including 3 interests, pretty broad just related to people into nutrition. My budget is small $10 / day. I plan to increase if I start to see...

Progress Thread - Making Money From Paid Traffic

Thanks Andy. I never even thought of that. I do really like the idea of promoting my own product / site so at least there is potential to convert that into a fastlane venture but perhaps that is actually slowing me down. Not sure.

Progress Thread - Making Money From Paid Traffic

Thanks @Andy Black, appreciate your response. Ultimately my goal is to have a profitable paid media campaign, so I guess yes, I need to learn more about paid media first. Sounds like you may have some alternative ideas I could try in order to learn. If so I'd be very interested to hear your...

Progress Thread - Making Money From Paid Traffic

Hello ladies and gents, I’ve lurked around the forums here for awhile and have undertaking several projects since initially signing up. All of them thus far have failed though I have learned quite a bit in each venture. I never started a progress thread for any of them and I think that was a...

How a Few Hours of Work Can Make Your Website 10X More Effective

    WEB/DIGITAL
@travisl How would you improve an existing website to increase the conversion 10 fold? Do you have any examples? Like, what are the top mistakes designers make? Your illustration is great and it makes sense to have a higher converting page but how to get there seems in my eyes a much more...

How Can I Automate Content Aggregation?

    WEB/DIGITAL
Cool. Definitely agree that it is easier, and more flexible, in long run. I took a quick look at that API, should be pretty smooth integration. If you run into trouble or have any specific questions let me know about how to integrate an API like that let me know.

How Can I Automate Content Aggregation?

    WEB/DIGITAL
Basically I meant you would skip the need for aggregating the data into an excel file if you used the API. Sounds like you don't want to make any code changes so something like the other solutions mentioned may work for you. If I was a betting man though I'd say a general purpose scraper is...

    Learn Software Project Management, resources?

    WEB/DIGITAL
I'm not sure exactly what kind of information you are looking for, specifically about outsourcing vs hiring or actually about running a software centric business? If the latter, I would recommend "Lean Startup" by Eric Ries. Good explanation of lessons learned building his software company...

How Can I Automate Content Aggregation?

    WEB/DIGITAL
Some services should exist online which give you API access to their database. This would allow you to pull ingredients, description and image directly to your app from their recipe databases, effectively skipping the middle man process. I googled "recipe api" and came up with...

Any tips on how to validate a mobile video game idea?

    IDEA
I would suggest playtesting as soon as possible. Sites like thebetafamily will help to get play testers. Also use reddit forums like gamedev / feedback fridays. If you review other games you can get the devs to review yours and give good feedback. You can do this testing with a very early...

Overwhelmed with Apps, finally burned out...

    WEB/DIGITAL
@beatgoezon I just checked out your latest demo for Timber Chimp. I like the basic concept of it but I'm interested how you plan on monetizing it? The problem I see with the current market for games is that they are expected to be free and they are expected to be very high quality. Most games...

    Idea Testing

    IDEA
I would suggest using AdWords to see if the keywords have merit, if so set up a landing page which briefly describe product, maybe fake some screenshots. Have a call to action like get here which redirects to a form asking them to sign up for beta etc. Not many people will fill out the form but...

Struggling with Business Ideas? Do This One Thing to Never Run Out of Fastlane Opportunities

    GOLD! IDEA
@MTF - first off want to say thanks for kicking off this thread. There is some great information in here! Now I know this thread is a bit old but this seemed the most fitting place to post my question before putting it in a new thread. I'm currently trying to validate an idea for a service...

    Building Software Through Idea Extraction

    IDEA
I would recommend reaching out on Linked In or any public meetups as you are doing. I would definitely stay away from anyone who doesn't have actual experience (no college kids, new hires, etc) of at least 2 years and ideally more. A seasoned developer will make far less mistakes and get product...

Am I Just F%^cking Kidding Myself? Or is this value?

    HOT!
While that is an interesting idea it would be extremely difficult to actually figure out common themes amongst "liked" or "unliked" posts unless you kept things very simple (i.e. like this author/website, etc). Finding similarities between content is an extremely complex software problem. OP -...
