    Real simple - real snacks!

    EXECUTION
Sorry I wasn't clear. Within the Facebook "ecosystem" it's fine enough (as you describe). The problem is when linking to facebook from other places. That always requires you to use a FB account, not a page. I set up a separate account since in the future someone other than me would be doing...

Creative strategy to fill market void.

    MARKETING
Just wanted to point out that the Fastlane book states several times that STARTING (rather than participating in an existing) MLM program is a legitimate FL approach...

    Healthy energy drink alternatives?

    HOT!
Not sure how I missed this thread (puts on energy snack box peddler hat)... Aside from all the suggestions here (definitely try the coffee with extra cream) you might consider Brain Toniq. It does not have any caffeine in it, but still gives you a similar kick. At some point I'm going to try...

So it turns out selling stuff online is hard. (waits for the experienced online marketers to stop ROFLing) Anyway...site is up, google adwords are up, reddit ad is up. I've learned a few things about ads (I knew a bit about Adwords from my day job). Google and Reddit use different models...

My life sucks, so I'm going to make $1,000,000 in 12 months

There's also a lesson about innovation. If it was a good idea, someone would aready be doing it. Therefore when someone comes up with a truly new and innovative idea, they will be told by others it's a stupid idea, because if it were not - someone would already be doing it! In the...

This is how you FAIL at Black Friday

    HOT!
Missing out on Thursday afternoon/evening, now the busiest shopping event of the yeat? When Target claimed to be selling 1800 televisions every minute? You bet they lost sales...

This is how you FAIL at Black Friday

    HOT!
Pretty sure that's a joke, but whatever Best Buy is actually doing - it ain't workin'! It's especially embarrasing for a company that SELLS mobile devices to be caught off-guard by the amount of mobile traffic they got on New Black Friday (what we used to call Thanksgiving). They should have...

This is how you FAIL at Black Friday

    HOT!
It's a problem you'll be glad to have for a startup. I have my current biz site on a single AWS server. If traffic gets crazy I can jack it up to a much more powerful machine in 60 seconds, and have all the content served from Cloudfront or another CDN within a few hours.

    HOT!
Maybe amazon proper, but AWS has had some pretty spectacular outage. IIRC reddit was down for two days because the AWS regional datacenter in Virginia had a major boo-boo. Anyway the story linked by @Vigilante quoted a Best Buy representative as claiming it was due to a spike in mobile...

    My View on Videogames

    OFF-TOPIC
I used to play World of Warcraft, many years ago. There were a few times when I was raiding with people that I felt I was getting legitimate experience that could be applied to real life. As OP said, when you play these types of online games competitively you have to effectively coordinate and...

I'm really bad at math. Need help figuring out this allocation

    HOT! INVESTING
That's the formula for the roots of the quadratic equation (the polynomial ax^2 + bx + c). Just in case anyone was wondering, which you probably weren't... Now you might say "why do I care about this for business??" but that's a curve that appears often in nature, has a single maximum/minimum...

    HOT! INVESTING
That's ome niche, not exactly what I was going for. The original inspiration was pop finance (think Yahoo Finance). The articles are either the tired useless Slowlane classics like "cut out your daily coffee and retire with millions in 60 years" or interview highlights. The second kind are...

That's actually one of the reasons I picked this particular business. Subscription "X of the month club" boxes have been around since before the internet. One of the first articles I came across when doing initial research said there were so many new subscription box startups in 2012 that it...

Wow, didn't know about Cratejoy. Thanks for the link! One of the ideas I had was developing a subscription platform for my business that I could then monetize as SaaS - exactly what Cratejoy is already doing. Doesn't look like they do fulfillment though, which is another way to go (and would...

Thanks for the feedback. I'm coming into this as a back-end web developer. I have limited experience and aptitude for front-end work (which is pretty obvious) and zero experience doing online marketing, which is one of the reasons I picked this business. The business model and product are...

I'm really bad at math. Need help figuring out this allocation

    HOT! INVESTING
...and this is exactly why I registered remedialfinance.com years ago (but still haven't put up a site). Simple math is not so simple. It's shocking how often percentages are misused, for example. 150 is a 50% increase/gain from 100, but 150% of 100 - I see this get messed up all the time...

The site is live: http://hackersnax.com/ Always surprised how much work it is to do even a simple 3-page web site. There's actually a blog in there as well, though there aren't any blog posts yet. Next step is advertising on social media.

Would you pay monthly/weekly for social media management/marketing

    MARKETING SOCIAL MEDIA
At my day job (...for now...) they pay over $2M/yr for search engine ads, mostly to google. Even shaving a few points off that (getting them as clicks coming in from "organic" results rather than thru pay-per-click) is a lot of money. They also employ some kind of "SEO optimization" company...
