    Going "All In"

    NOTABLE! MINDSET
Eh, it's a mixed bag for me. I've gone all in before, funding my own project with my own capital, utilizing my own resources, with my own time. Ended up crashing and burning with some debt and no income. Failing hard can be debilitating for some time, particularly once that crippling depression...

Is it worth being Google AdWords certified?

    MARKETING
I've personally watched someone who had never even been inside of the Adwords UI take the test and pass. It's SUCH A JOKE, that you can literally search for the answers (via Google nonetheless) while taking the test, which is what I did, and get certified. Totally agree about the agency aspect...

NEGOTIATING 101: How To Negotiate With Suppliers

Great post! Any recommendations for freight forwarders? Any to avoid specifically? When looking for freight forwarders, do you have any specific criteria that you need met?

Time to slay the Google Adwords beast

    MARKETING
First rule of Adwords: You do not talk about Adwords. Kidding. But on a serious note, go check out @Andy Black 's threads on PPC. There is gold contained within, particularly for those just getting started. It'll help you tie together concepts in a way that will save you both time and $$$.

    3 Sales to $100k/month in 3 months

Good stuff. I'm actually in the process of doing something similar with bidding on competitors terms via PPC for a client of mine.

    Is importing from China unethical?

    SOURCING
Completely agree. Back when I had a team of workers in the Philippines these were my exact same sentiments. At the end of the day, you are helping the people who work for you live a more prosperous life. Who can really talk down on that?

Launched E-Commerce site almost a month ago – NO SALES

    MARKETING
Two simple things since I don't know exactly what you're selling: In Adwords, be sure not to neglect your search query report (Top nav -> Keywords -> Search Queries). Once you do this, see where you're spending the most money. You know your margins, do the math. If you're spending 50 euros on...

    Books that helped/inspired you?

Pretty much read the following in this order(just books that really helped in a specific fashion or to jumpstart the process of learning new skills): TMF (mindset correction) Awaken the Giant Within - Tony Robbins (Good NLP fundamentals intro) Influence - The Art of Persuasion (Essential for...

E-commerce: What to do when conversions are down?

    MARKETING
Where are you getting these metrics? Are you going off of the default view in Google Analytics? Are you looking at a specific channel? If you're going with a default view via GA, referral spam could be obfuscating your real numbers.

    Google Removing Sidebar Ads?

    MARKETING
Yeah, this is a predictable, yet confusing move by G. The fact that they are actively doing away with a large amount of potential ad real estate with nothing to replace it with (in most cases, excluding shopping) is odd. For more generic service related queries, there is a LOT of white space...

Book recommendation to improve copywriting skills?

    MARKETING
That defacto list posted up earlier hits the nail on the head. If you're looking for absolute MASTERY, read Breakthrough Advertising a few times. It really is a stellar book for copywriting, thought not exactly for the novice.

The ancient art of the cold call

    MARKETING
I have what you would call a radio voice, and after spending a few months doing inside sales, it became second nature. Cold calling is essential in some businesses, B2B especially. To be honest, it is probably one of the most valuable skills I have and I'm glad I spent the time developing it. It...

BigCommerce Rest In Peace (Alternatives Re: Price Increase)

    WEB/DIGITAL
Having worked with most of the platforms mentioned in this thread, the lack of Magento love is surprising. You can customize pretty much everything and there is a large 3rd party marketplace. I am a bit biased in my view from a site architecture standpoint, but most of the other options have...

    Lead Generation

    WEB/DIGITAL
Totally depends on your setup. If you have tools which can automate the process of billing at recurring times, daily can work fine so long as you QA process is top notch (aka you aren't providing shit). It also depends on what kind of lead gen model you are planning to run. Daily recurring...

    Sales Training Advice

    MARKETING
IMO, the Straight Line stuff is fine, it has some good stuff in it and it offers a simple visualization to keep in the back of your head. For core fundamentals, checkout Cialdini's stuff. Other than that, your time is best spent practicing your craft, go talk to some people, figure out what...
