Random Chat, Thoughts, Posts, and/or Rants Thread
HOT! CHATMy friend, my suggestion and context was literally the next post after the other person asked. I assumed the person was asking about personal security across variety different accounts, and you are talking about securing your server. I gave general good/basic steps, and I assumed the person in...- jbg

What should I do when I'm only 14 years old?
QUESTIONI have to correct myself, since my post was insanely irresponsible. Something was nagging me in the back of my mind but couldn't figure it out until now. Socializing with everyone might be a terrible advice depending where you are in the world. I wrote my post as what I would literally say to...- jbg

What should I do when I'm only 14 years old?
QUESTIONIf I was 14 again I would do this: - Learn about all the bad effects of social media today, and how it affects your mental health, especially in 2024 - Continue socializing with almost everyone, but without cigarettes, alcohol and drugs - Write daily to train my thinking 15 years earlier - Focus...- jbg

Building long-tail Google Ads campaigns for fun and profit
HOT! EXECUTIONI've read this post and looked at image, and I clearly see what you did had an effect. But I'm really struggling to fully understand this post. If you have the time I would really appreciate it if you could dumb it down for a beginner like me: 1. When you say "double counting conversions", you...- jbg

Hunting Whales: Is there An Ethical Way To Do This?
NOTABLE! HOT! MARKETINGTo be fair, you didn't state anything about what are you planning to do, so the conversation took that way. I also understood it as a abstract question about ethics. I still stand that his posts provide value, like I said, I wish I had read this thread when I was 22. Anyway, it's a big...- jbg

Think for Yourself. No More Questions.
GOLD! MINDSET1000% agree with these 3 things. It sounded like cheesy Master Yoda bullshit when I first heard it. But it works. Writing is so OP it's insane.- jbg

Random Chat, Thoughts, Posts, and/or Rants Thread
HOT! CHATUse some open source password manager there are some cheap ones, and generate complex and unique password for every site, no reusing. It can also check are your passwords leaked. Enable 2FA everywhere. Don't use 2FA authenticator app at the same place where is your email or passwords. So if you...- jbg

Content Marketing vs. Ads: Which Should You Prioritize for Your Business?
MARKETINGIt's been exactly a week since I made my software available, and I'm slightly changing changing my initial opinion. I've paused all my ads because most of my traffic was people using MacOS. I still haven't released MacOS version since I'm waiting on Apple to give me access to something, and...- jbg

Random Chat, Thoughts, Posts, and/or Rants Thread
HOT! CHATDoes Youtube count views and watch time in embedded videos? I'm asking because I've embedded a product video to my website from YT, instead from the website itself because I thought that I would get watch analytics "for free". It doesn't seem to count anything. I've just done this today, so I'm...- jbg

How to Build and Grow a Newsletter as a Business Model
GOLD! HOT! PUBLISHINGI'm currently executing something else, but I think of this newsletter as a starting point of a 10 year plan. My reasons specifically are: 1. I want an excuse to write about it. Writing is OP. 2. I want to specialize and become the top expert in one tech field. Currently I'm pretty good. I know...- jbg

How to Build and Grow a Newsletter as a Business Model
GOLD! HOT! PUBLISHINGI've just read this topic from the start, and I wanted to extend public thanks to @MTF, @Andy Black & @redshift for providing a lot of info from different angles. It definitely got me thinking about much better questions regarding newsletter business than I was previously even aware.- jbg

What can you learn from Valve on iteratively providing value?
MINDSET EXECUTIONBecause they can kill 999 projects and 1 can survive to be a hit. Other game companies don't have that luxury, either because of cash or because of shareholder greed. Games are incredibly hard and costly to make. Even getting a one game, in whatever state out, is worthy of utmost respect. Valve...- jbg

Young people and the paid forum
I grew up on various SMF forums, I know I'm probably not representative of the majority, but I'm firmly convinced these old school forums are a better value provider. They can be moderated by humans effectively, and then internal meta of the forum develops, and then it becomes an useful place...- jbg

HOT! CHATI know I'm posting a lot in the last few days, but I need somewhere to write out my thoughts and share this stuff. I got another sale today. Hunting Whales: Is there An Ethical Way To Do This?
NOTABLE! HOT! MARKETINGI want to thank @Black_Dragon43 for sharing this, in what I assume what was an extremely honest accounting of his views. At least in my experience, people who care about their reputations to the extent you do don't share their thoughts in this detail on these kinds of topics. I disagree with...- jbg

HOT! CHATThank you for sharing, I've tried it out quickly, but unfortunately it seems too limited for my use case. It can only take screenshots from web, and there isn't any actual video editing. It does seem giga useful for SaaS customer service. This would cut so much time at a company where I used to...- jbg

HOT! CHATDoes anyone use any software where you quickly create some short video? I want to create a short product video, some diagrams, some screen capture, minor bg audio and a voicover, as generic as possible. Something that doesn't require me to complete PHD in video editing and hopefully has some...- jbg

Hunting Whales: Is there An Ethical Way To Do This?
NOTABLE! HOT! MARKETINGI don't know about ethics too much, only thing I follow is Golden Rule. If I for some reason got brain damage and started playing mobile games, and got into this situation, I don't think I would feel scammed. Simple "Okay, this is trash, lesson learned" would be most probable thinking about...- jbg
