    [PROGRESS THREAD]: Six-figure Fiction

    PUBLISHING
I wish that the depression and anxiety bouts were just related to my venture in writing, but, alas, they are not. It's been a lifelong battle for me, that, up until recently, has never been this severe. But you're right, on both fronts it's a daily battle where small victories can lead to...

    [PROGRESS THREAD]: Six-figure Fiction

    PUBLISHING
Thanks. As for an update, to be honest, I haven't done much. December and January have been rough. I'm finishing up a pretty lengthy edit on all 3 of my novellas, publishing all 3 as individual products, making the first one perma-free, and also releasing the omnibus product. Pretty much...

    How Many Pages?

    PUBLISHING
Really curious how some of you are pulling 250-300 words per page in fiction on Amazon. At say, 275 words per page, my books would be: Book 1: 86 pg Book 2: 108 pg Book 3: 120 pg (estimated - not done) Maybe it's just me, but I think hitting 3 digit page counts would affect buyers positively...

    How Many Pages?

    PUBLISHING
Using this formula, my books show: Book 1: 76 pages at 313 words per page. Book 2: 88 pages at 337 words per page. I use 330 words per page as the average when estimating book length. So 33k words = 100 pages.

    Amazon: 30 Minute Delivery

    OFF-TOPIC
It's not really a matter of if people need it, so much as it is Amazon would save a disgusting amount of money by cutting out the middle man. Although, it would be pretty damned neat to have something appear at your house almost immediately after ordering it.

    Amazon: 30 Minute Delivery

    OFF-TOPIC
I'm not sure why people seem so insistent that this idea, or one very similar, won't become a reality in the not-so-distant future. I mean, from a national shipping standpoint, the idea itself makes perfect sense. Legal issues and kids with bats aside, how much money would Amazon save if they...

    The [Unethical] Method to Publishing...

    PUBLISHING
Depends on how you're doing it. If you're following what you said in your first post... Which appears to be nothing more than spinning content, then there really is no debating whether it is ethical or not (hint: it's not). There's already a pretty large army of get-rick-quick guys on Warrior...

So how much pay would you require to do this job?

No... no... no no nononononononono. NO. $8 hour to climb that?! LOOOOL. No.

How Many Books Will You Publish in 2014?

    PUBLISHING
I'll throw my two cents in here. :D In the novella vs novel debate, I think the most important thing is what your market actually wants. Readers are certainly creatures of habit and I think some genres are slowly becoming more accepting of shorter works, but most are still looking for that...

    You choose please.

Definitely go with clear, if only for the powerful fact that it instantly conveys the products key feature (the double-wall insulation).

Turning fiction into a business opportunity

    PUBLISHING
That's a pretty neat idea. Even if not for the fans, I'd love to have some of my cover art up in my office. Any idea where to get stuff like this done?

Keep us posted. I'm very interested in hearing anything you can share about the permafree process and any results. I'll be following this path in a couple more weeks when my book falls out of KDP Select.

One year of stupidity and no results

Not sure why you stopped doing this when it was showing you some results. If 2 books made you $200, 20 books would have made you $2000. No matter what you're trying, follow-through is a necessary component for success.

    Jumping on the bandwagon

    PUBLISHING
Oh... well, yeah, lol. That's a hell of a grind to get used to. Once your more used to it, 5k days will be nothing, and neither will a novel a month. I can't help but think that that kind of habitual production nearly guarantees a decent writer success. Not only is it really high output, but...

I remember reading somewhere that if you're getting bored and not wanting to write a scene or something, that it usually means you need to really spice it up. Chances are that if it's boring for you to write, it's going to be boring for someone to read. I try to follow this advice on stuff...

Advice on writing "How To" E-books?

    PUBLISHING
Just publish them as ebooks under a pen name. In the ebook world, no one ever has to know who actually wrote the book unless you want them to. If you have a back list of stories available, you're already 85% of the way there. Get that stuff on Amazon. There's lots and lots of money to be made...

E-Books aren't Fastlane. You should quit...

    PUBLISHING
Which was the point I was arguing (well, discussing). As far as fiction writing and self-publishing success, I really don't think there's anything that can substitute for production. No amount of skillful prose can make up for a lack of consistent production for a new author. There's just no way...
